tumeric has a chemical inside that is supposedly good for health. this chemical is cumin, and if i am not mistaken, it is supposed to be good for your heart as well as for your circulatory system and immune system in general. however, tumeric is most often used in making curries, and this is where it could get rather unhealthy, as people usually add a lot of oil or coconut milk or full cream to make the curries tastier. these unhealthy additions could well negate any positive health effects that tumeric may have.

What do you mean by "taken turmeric"? I use it for when I make Indian cooking. I used to have a spice encyclopedia that had all kinds of uses for different spices. I don't remember if turmeric was one that was used for health issues, but I remember it is used as a temporary dye.
I buy my turmeric at either oriental or Indian groceries in a bulk size. There is generally no brand name listed on the bag. Turmeric is in mustard so maybe if you eat mustard on your sandwiches, you would be getting enough turmeric.
