I'm sooooo curious. Could anyone help me? I have been blogging for six months and so far nothing has happened to my blogs. Actually I haven't had any experience regarding blogging and online business but I could write so I tried having a free blog site. I heard about website where you can buy a domain for your website. I'm curious about how this website domain works. Is it worth the money you spend or is blogging just fine?
I want to have a site where I could write and promote my work. And I'm choosing between a blog or a website. Please!!! Could anyone have a detailed explanation on how this two sites work?
This online business is so confusing and sometimes I don't understand which is which. Thanks to you readers and co-mylotters....

first of all, let me ask you one thing. what do you want to happen in your blog? coz you said nothing happens. do you intend to make an earning out of it?
let's focus about what is blog and about domain or website. the simplest thing to describe it is, your blog is the content/s in your website, just like what you are having right now in your livejournal. livejournal is the website host of your blog and your domain name is "http://eezy-life.livejournal.com". domain is like a title of your website. there are paid website hostings wherein you can have your own domain name like "www.masmasika.com". monthly payments for websites vary between $4-$7 per month and the more months you would subscribe the lesser it would be. if you just want to promote your work and your articles then i would say that you only use those free sites while you are starting unless you would like it be customized or you'd like to have your own domain name. this again depends on what you want yet you have to think about the monthly maintenance cost of your site. you have to ask yourself, is it worth paying for this site? or the FREE sites is enough already.
you are also talking of online business. what kind of online business you are looking into or you want to have?

that's right. you should make use and take advantage of the free sites before you're going to venture in a paid website and make sure you earn in your paid website, so you won't have a hard time finding ways how to finance it in the long run. lem'me know if there's more i could help or can assist with.

Thanks. I think I have a lot more to learn before deciding on having a website. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Domains are a name you own on the Net. Without hosting though, the name you have is only a name. You need hosting (space) to actually have something showing on the domain. Think of it as first having the deed to the land, but you don't have the actual land itself until you buy it.
You can do whatever you want with your domain and hosting as long as you keep to the rules your hosting provider gives you. You can turn your domain into a blog to promote your work, or just keep it as a regular old website to promote your works, like a portfolio website.
Depending on your needs, wants and flexibility, you can choose to go the free way and be restricted in terms of customising your blog and domain, but enjoying the ease people find your page, or you can spend a bit of money and get your own domain with all the flexibility and customisability you want but without the search engine boost.
I belong to the group of people who think that blogging should be personal; that's what they were in the first place. Unless you intend to bring a very human and personal aspect to your products and business, stick with a regular old domain. Don't write a blog unless you're doing things like reviews, food recipes, and other crafts.

I have to agree with naokokensaku, blogs are perfect for product reviews and such. Things like that.

To be perfectly honest, until your blog has a large readership, you would be wasting your money on a domain name and a website. Use the blog as a way to learn all about doing business on the web, and to develop your writing skills. Once you have the readership, you can get your own domain name and incorporate your blog into a website, if there is really anything you want to do on a site that you can't do on a blog. Many bloggers make good money just with their blogs. Most poeple don't really have any need for a website.

Thanks. I guess I just stick to my blog first as I'm still learning.
