My dog would rather play with the oldest most ragedy toys and yet he will leave the new ones and never take them out!I just wondered if he will ever decide the new ones are good too? His old toys look terrible , and most of them are falling apart.lol

My dog also like his old toy more than the new one. Even though the new one is so muc h more expensive. I guess he love the smell of the old toy better than the new one. Furthermore, all his saliva is there at the old toy so do his familiar smell. He even bring it to sleep most of the night.

I think that it makes them feel more secure. They like to feel that some things are just theirs. Just like we do!I think that is so cute that your dog likes to sleep with that toy. Animals are so smart and I have enjoyed my precious girl, she is 5 years old now!

My puppy is the same way- he won't want the new ones we get him, he wants his old toys. I guess the reason behind it is because it's kind of like a security blanket. He's used to the old ones- and the new ones don't have his smell on it. If you want him to play with his new ones, I would suggest that you take the old toys away one at a time. That way, he still has his old ones, but he may realize that he has new ones that he can tear and play with- and his old toys have gone bye-bye!

this dog has at least 50 toys to play with. He likes to get them all out. If i pick them up, he will go back and get them out. He dosent like people getting in his toy box. He feels this is his and he gets nervous and worried if you go into it. Hes very proud of all his toys.

the old toys are a comfort for your dog. the dog also knows the old toys are his. It is like having that one special blanket or shirt that you just can't get rid rid of. No matter how many time you have bought new ones. You still go back to using that special old blanket or shirt til it is no more.

Dogs are creatures of habit...so the veterinary surgeon told me. They like to do the same things all the time so I suppose that is why your dog wants to play with his old toys. It would be the same if you were to give your dog away. The dog would pine for you because he is used to being with you.

Your right my friend, its very true.I notice watching all of the usual habits that they have, My dog likes to go to sleep at the same time every night. She likes the same blankets to cover up with and she likes to be with me, wherever I am!

My dog has his favorites and they are all stuffed animals. He pulls the stuffing out of them and then lays with them. LOL. I went to Koles and purchased a bag of them when they were on sale for $2.00 each. So when he completely tears them up, I just get him another one just like it from the bag. LOL They are kids stuffed animals but hey they work. lol

My dog always pulls the stuffing out.He still loves it afterwards and wants to keep it anyway. He gets what he wants out of his toy box when he wants it. You never know which one he will pick!
