Would you sacrifice your comfort for your image????? |
|
When it comes down to shopping for clothes and shoes, is it a choice between look or comfort? Are you vain? Do you really believe people care that much about your appearance that you would sacrifice your comfort and buy something that didn't make you comftable. Or do you care so much about your appearance you would sacrifice an entire days comfort and risk pain after the fact? Reently, I purchased a really expensive pair of shoes that matched a dress, just because I didn't think anything else would match. Those shoes hurt my feet so much and I couldn't walk right. They still sit in the bottom of my closet gathering dust. It wasn't worth the hassle. What do you think? With the economy the way it is it worth it? Is you comfort or your image more important?

deeesfamilyvalues (133) | 1 year ago | Hey, that is a great idea. They are pretty, but I will never wear them again. I almost begged the bellhop/ concierge to carry me to my room. I hope your knees get better. I know what that is like Ihave had two knee surgeries and three screws put inmy left hip. It sticks doesn't it. I have decided comfort is the best option! Thank you for posting.

2. whiteheather39 (13462) | 1 year ago | In my younger days I definately chose looks over comfort. Nowadays I still try to look nice but comfort comes first. I am glad I have enough clothes to last me a long, long time. As money is now so tight clothes is the last thing I shall buy.

deeesfamilyvalues (133) | 1 year ago | You are a spring chicken. (meaning you are still young!!)I am glad that you choose comfort over imagine though. There are so many alternative styles and stores you can go to that it doesn't seem worth ruining your feet or being uncomfortable all day. Just not worth it. And you are right the price of clothing is ridiculous. Ceratinly not high on my adgenda. Thank you for posting.

3. Tianna2 (1087) | 1 year ago | I dont think I sacrifice comfort for fashion, however I do wear alot of fashionable cloths but I stay with whats comfortable. I'm used to wearing alot of things that some people find uncomfortable so they really dont bother me to wear them often. I really dont wear things for image but I do like to look good for myself.
Hugs, Tianna

deeesfamilyvalues (133) | 1 year ago | Oh that is nice Tianna. I think we all judge fashion and comfort differently. There are a lot of cute things out there that are comfortable. And what you think is comfortable, I may not. Good call. Thank you so much.

4. yuna15 (1127) | 1 year ago | I am not the "fashionista" type. So I wear what I want to wear. So I choose comfort but it doesn't mean I don't care about my image. I usually wear sneakers, pants, and t-shirts.

deeesfamilyvalues (133) | 1 year ago | I am not a fashionista either. I do like to look nice too. I have a lot of friends that are self endorsed fashionista's, and I really do not cut the mustard there. But, I do like to look nice when I go out. I love PJ's during the day, at home though. How about you!! I could live in PJ's. Thank you so much.

5. taface412 (1987) | 1 year ago | No way. There is no way possible i could be uncomfortable and try to act comfortable. I would rather be realistic as to what is best for my body and work with that.

deeesfamilyvalues (133) | 1 year ago | You have the right attitude. I have to think that way from now on. It is really tough to get clothing that doesn't fit and hurts. Why would you spend entire corporate day, or go out partying only to go home and have to soak your feet. ( or let your breath out because you couldn't breath.) Thank you so much taface412. I appreciate your post.

deeesfamilyvalues (133) | 1 year ago | Yep...The shoes are gone!! They are in box and I giving the to someone. They are AnneTaylor. She was drooling over them so I decided they are hers. Yep, heels or any shoes and clothing for that matter is better when they are comfortable. Besides, I think you have a better mental picture of yourself when you are comfortable. Oh the "muffin top" disgusting!!! Why sell yourself out like that. I have stretch marks. A bikini and low rise jeans are the LAST on my list. Why do I want to show that junk off. ARghhhhh. I am all with ya. Thank you icequeen.

7. LadyMarissa (2754) | 1 year ago | When I was young, I went for how I looked. The female mentality then was Pride knows NO pain So the more they hurt, the better I felt about myself. Also, I NEVER looked good for somebody else. I ALWAYS looked good for ME!!!
As I've gotten older, I tend to go for comfort. I guess I now feel good about ME if I'm NOT in pain!!!
| |
| |
|
|
deeesfamilyvalues (133) | 1 year ago | That is great. I think our mentality changes after we reach a certain age. I know when I was younger also, I wanted that svelte look and wanted to impress. I felt good and did it FOR me but I wanted to make a great impression. I agree, now comfort is the best route. I broke my hip last year tumbling down a flight of stairs. I can't do the high, high heels for a long period of time anymore. I just look for a more comfortable look that I think is cute. That is the beauty of knocking on 40's door.:-) Thank you LadyMarissa!!

8. Piscesmoon (2885) | 1 year ago | I do like to look nice but comfort is very important to me. In my 20's, I found the perfect shoes to go with a special dress I wanted to wear to a wedding. Unfortunately the shoes were a size too small but I loved them and bought them anyway. They did look really pretty but I am sure the sight of me walking around wincing in pain was not. Now, I will spend a long time going from shop to shop to find something that is both pretty AND comfortable.

deeesfamilyvalues (133) | 1 year ago | I think every woman has made that mistake. Especially the younger we are. My grandma had nasty looking feet because she was from before the "Donna Reed" era. You know the cooking in a skirt and blouse and heels. Her toes looked like gnarled sausages. I would rather shop it out as well. Look arouns find the comfort you need and then you will look nice and feel nice. Thank you Pisces.

Piscesmoon (2885) | 1 year ago | Glad I didn't have to live in that era. At home, I am always bare-footed. I can't imagine doing housework in heels or any other footwear.

9. Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | Hello deeesfamilyvalues
I always go for function over form. When I was in eight grade I spent some hard earned money on a particular shirt because of the name brand. It was the most uncomfortable shirt I ever wore, and I learned a valuable lesson, vowing never to make the same mistake again.
When I buy clothes and shoes my only concern is comfort and how it functions for the task at hand.
| |
| |
|
|
deeesfamilyvalues (133) | 1 year ago | Just like I told Pisces. I think every one of us females have done that. Whether it is a name brand or certain fashion we have bought it, then regretted it. Now, I too just go for comfort and functionality. I don't shop in all the pop culture stores. Most of those clothes were not made for me. I am not huge. Just a normal size 8. But, my shape isn't like everyone elses. I am not runway model. So a lot of times I would have to buy an extra large instead of my own size. Besides my boobs are bigger than most teeny boppers. So shirt shopping in those typw od stores is a night mare. I just buy what fits and is comfortable now. Thank you very muchTransdaisc.

10. janeives43 (980) | 1 year ago | When I was younger, I think image was much more important to me than it is now. At age 65, though I like to think I look nice most of the time, I buy strictly for comfort. My feet can't handle those mile high heels and wedges, but I can find some nice low pumps and supportive clogs that lighten my step.
I love clothes, but not necessarily fashion. I buy what I like, and what I like to think looks good on me. As far as designer labels for either shoes or clothing; forget it! If I can find a pair of pants and a top that I like at Wal Mart, I'm as happy as a clam!
I have a winter coat that I've worn for almost 20 years. It cost a lot, but it looks as good as the day I bought it, so I think of it as an investment during these economically challenged times.

deeesfamilyvalues (133) | 1 year ago | I have a few things I have had over the years as well. It is tough now a days to justify the prices people want for clothing. Yes, It is about comfort. It is about image whe we are in high schooland college, I think. Now, after five kids, I will leaeve fashion up to my 18 year old daughter. Thank you janeives.
