I had seen a resort called huts in Kerala in India too have made houses as you mentioned but it really cool inside and it gives a feeling of staying inside a cave. I hope it is much eco-friendly way to build houses and also much cheap too. May it might be much suitable to Indian climates too. But the lasting of this houses or huts too is not guarenteed.

Yes, you certainly can build houses of mud. In Australia, there are quite a few people today making mud bricks and building their own homes with them. In ancient times, houses were also made with animal dung plastered on straw. It's amazing how nature has always provided materials for shelter.

MUD HOUSE have been with a long time, ADOBE (mud huts).
many Countries have them, Kenya and Village Peullo. Inkas also had mud huts (adobe).

They can be made today and work very well as houses.

Many of the pioneers that settled America built sod homes. Some lived in them for many years until they could build log homes or plank wood homes.
It was sturdy and always available.

Yes I have not only seen but stayed in a house made from unbaked bricks and mud house in a village in India and believe me, these are a good place to live, in an environment of low water and electricity supply availability. These houses remain cool in summers and hot in winters without any air conditioning.

Here in the UK we have Barratt homes and the masive house building firms and in some parts of the world they prefer to use the methods that have always been known and have worked for their way of life.I am sure that they enjoy their residences as much as anyone else ,and if you take a look at those who live in ice houses ,the igloos,well you would wonder how on earth they would ever be comfortable.Recently in a television documentary Joanna Lumley was going around the frozen north,and she spent a night in an ice house,the bed was just a slab of ice,it had been carved from a wall,and she was somewhat worried about spending the night sleeping on it !but when she settled down for the night she said it was remarkably comfortable.But if you take a look around at some of the homes in the world,many are great architectural feats.How years ago did they manage to build the most enormous homes,mansions,stately homes,with using only man nad maybe horse power.The huge lumps of stone were man moved and everything was built using just basic tools..nowadays if you havent got thre latest Black and Decker gadget life is not worth living!
