The Journey Of Desire by John Eldredge was the best book so far. I had a hard time rating because I have lots of books that I like and would read over and over again. Can I please add "When The Missing Piece Meets The Bid O" by Shel Silverstein? You can find it in the children's book section but the message is quite outstanding. I'ts about the quest of finding who completes you. Just a few pages, one liner and simple illustrations. You can find it in youtube.

I think it would be Dostoyevsky's The Karamazov Brothers for me...

As usual Dostoyevsky's novels bring out the existential struggles of humankind. It is his last and greatest novel, The Karamazov Brothers is both a brilliantly told crime story and a passionate philosophical debate. The dissolute landowner Fyodor Karamazov is murdered; his sons--the atheist intellectual Ivan, the hot-blooded Dmitry, and the saintly novice Alyosha--are all involved at some level. Brilliantly bound up with this psychological drama is Dostoevsky's intense and disturbing exploration of many deeply felt ideas about the existence of God, freedom of will, the collective nature of guilt etc.

There are so many books that I love, but if I had to pick just one favorite, it would have to be The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. I like the LOTR trilogy also, but I think the Hobbit is better all around book.
There are also many authors that I absolutely love...a few of which are Karen Kingsbury (Christian romance), Terri Blackstock (Christian mystery), and Mindy Starns Clark (Christan mystery/romance). If you enjoy Christian fiction you should check these three ladies out. Every time I start one of their books, I can't put it down until I'm finished.

tintusam! I like Christian books although I havent tried Christian fiction but I'd love to. thanks for the tips. One of my favorite The Journey Of Desire is a Christian book. I lost my copy by letting it borrow to someone else. I always do that. Share my own copy so they can appreciate and learn from it as well and I end up regretting. I like to keep my books, plastic covered on my book shelf because I read then over and ever again. And I treasure them. lol

Can't choose from among these: The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoi, Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, The Art of War by Sun Tzu, The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason, Noli Me Tangere by Jose Rizal, and the painless approach to western philosophy, Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder. Actually, I have many more books in mind. I don't have a particular favorite or a number one, but these are some of the books that I love.

The best book I ever read is a negative utopia novel by Aldous Huxley, he wrote a few criticizing society, but my favorite has got to be "Brave New World". It was so so so good, it is a book that is even better when you read it again and again. It helped me have more perspective than I already have about things that are screwed up and need fixed in society, or in some cases, things that do not have to be fixed and perfect. I recommend that book to anyone, though I know a lot of people would not understand the underlying meaning, I have had people read it before and they still did not get it after a few explanations, I really don't think it's hard to read if you have an open mind though. Well anyways, happy mylotting and have a great day or night, I am off to sleep!

So far, my most favorite book is One Thousand Chestnut Trees: A Korean Novel by Mira Stout. This book inspire my shout out in friendster. The book covers several factors that lead to an unfortunate event that even now is still unresolved.
