I have never been part of a union and there is none at my job. Unions used to be needed, I'm not sure they are anymore. They sure know how to drive up prices of the products!

You're one of the very lucky ones if you have decent bosses who don't take advantage of you without a union! I really think they're needed now more than ever in some workplaces but I also think they need to be more flexible and willing to compromise. I worked for a post master who, without a union, probably would have had me executed!

Wow am i ever grateful we have a Union except in education it is call the Federation and i made a great living and now retired an even better pension because of our Federation I donot want to seem greedy and think money is the end and be all but i guess i do feel that a little The only thing i have against unions when they protect workers and same in teaching who do not deserve help or support But yes indeed many today make a good living because of the Union Good Luck Have a Great day

No unions in my company.
I think unions served a very useful purpose once. Nowadays it seems like they are more interested in holding on to power than they are in serving their members. Heard too many stories...

Unionism is still present in the Philippine settings. I think, there are places and industries that the presence of unions are still strong and thriving.
I work in a call center, and even though I heard unions in other call centers to protect employees' welfare, we dont have one (in my company). The Human Resource Department is sufficient enough to balance business needs and employee welfare.
Good day!

Hi ronaldinu,
When I was at work, there were many times that I wished we were represented by a union as we found the a lot of employers were taken us for a ride, untill I searched in our contracts and stood up for my staff,i always had to figtht for my
rights if we had a Union behind us, the companies wouldn't stand a chance.

Absolutely, I think unions still have a place in the market! They aren't perfect by any means but unfortunately the main things people hear about are the teachers' unions who make it impossible to get rid of poor teachers or the auto workers unions who many people blame for the problems the Big 3 are facing right now, which is, in my view, very exaggerated and unfair. What people don't see are the "sweatshop" like places that still exist where workers are fired at will and forced to work in unsafe conditions for extremely low wages for what they do. They don't see how many hard working people are at the mercy of employers who are interested only in lining their own pockets at the expense of those who do the actual work.
