Hey guyz, I am not your typical health-conscious person but I just vowed not drink softdrinks anymore. I started not to take the most coveted drink last October 1, and i am glad to say I havent drank softdrinks ever since.
Well, I understand that to stay healthy and fit, you have to, if not totally refrain, at least minimize the intake of softdrinks. I heard somebody say that 1 liter of it takes away 3 minutes of your life. Are you aware of that?
Anyway, my professor haven't had softdrinks for almost 2 years now. Shucks! The challenge is: Can you do the same? Can you sacrifice your taste buds for the sake of health? You tell me. Or maybe you never had a drink longer than my professor?

So all you drink is pure water?
That is a bit boring to my lifestyle.
Here in the United States every almost every single company makes drinks with the super calorated High Fructose Corn Syrup, and if they are not adding that to natural fruit juices they make it with concentrates to boost the calorie intake to over 200 calories per 12 ounces. -
Or they offer "lite" drinks with unnatural substitutes like saccharine, sucrose, fructose, and whateverlose the make it taste more like syrup than fruit juice.
No, I cannot drink just pure water.
If someone would offer a healthy alternative in the US without driving us to obesity, or artificially altering our taste buds to artificial sweeteners that are sweeter than natural sugar, I would like to hear about it.

hey, have you heard about "everything that's taken in excess is always not good..."
well, that goes also to too much tea, or in this case softdrinks...
maybe we could compromise to taking only minimal amounts...
and that could be a big start...
but for me, ill stick to no softdrinks... lol
anyway, thanks...

No, not pure water all the time. I also drink Iced Tea or Iced Milk for my beverage. i heard even "Lite" drinks have bad effects also. I am not really anti-super calorated drinks, its just that I am not into softdrinks.
If you are conscious of being driven to obesity, you can try the Iced Tea, it is also refreshing and at the same time helps you burn those fats. And you can have it with or without the sweetener.

Well i accept the challenge, lol! Honestly, I am not that really softdrink fanatic and I can surpass my meal without drinking softdrinks. My mom is really addicted to softdrinks that's why now, she's having a diabetes.

See, it can surely lead to something that is detrimental to our health, like diabetes. A classmate of mine in college has also diabetes, she apparently got it from excessive intake of softdrinks and chocolates and other sweets. I hope your mom can get through with it.

It's good to hear that someone has stopped drinking soft drinks. I've been trying my best to stop but still couldn't. I've reduced hell of a lot but couldnt stop completely. Tell me how you did that? I know it's not easy even if you know that you arelosing 3 minutes for every 1 liter!!!

It is really a matter of mind setting. If you really want to quit softdrinks, you tell yourself you do not like to drink then start cutting down your intake until such time you can stand without drinking a single bottle. Hehe! Promise, it was hard at first.

I think I cannot do that. Abstain for years not to taste softdrink. Especially our ref is always full of different kinds of softdrinks (for I am a softdrink seller) lol..... I think we must control our intake of softdrinks because even it is not softdrink any other drinks can cause bad to our health. Just a minimal intake would do.

I certainly don't drink them as much as some, but every now and then I can't help it. I try not to have them when out at restaurants and I always keep cold water in the fridge. I find that too often people will grab a soda just because it's there, so if there are healthy alternatives around then staying away from it is much easier. I think staying away from it all together is an excellent choice and I applaud you (and your professor)!

Yeah thanks! Well, it all starts up from minimizing the consumption at first. Until such time you finally get rid of the habit.. Haha! Do I sound like a shrink here? I hope not.
Anyways, I hope restaurants would offer healthy alternatives to costumers instead of just selling them sodas.
