Millvina Dean, aged 96 was just a mere 2 months old when she was on the Titanic and its subsequent sinking and is now forced to sell mementoes to pay for her care at the nursing home where she resides. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/081016/world/britain_titanic_history_auction_1

Oh, that's sad. I'm sorry to hear she has to sell her most precious belongings. Will 3,000 pounds really last her that long? It would be nice if some wealthy benefactor would step forward and offer to pay for her nursing home bills. Guess things like that don't happen very often.

I saw this on TV during the news and I thought it was sad. She managed to keep them until 96 and now she has to part with them.

It must be really hard to have to part with those things.I wonder how much of it she remembered and how hard it would be to have those memories.I am so glad that she has lived such a long life.I wish she had been able to keep her things!

That is so sad. I haven't read the link yet because I'm answering from my e-mail, but that is a shame. I mean I know when she passes on she won't need them, but I hate to see elderly people have to sell their treasured items just to get by in life. I hope someone reads this article and steps up to help her out.

Hi Cher, It is so sad that she has to resort to this to survive after being blessed enough to have survived the titantic and to live to be 96 years old right now. The world just seems to cast people aside regardless, where is the love? Huggles. Ellie :D

It is sad but she is lucky that she has something that has value to sell. Thanks for sharing.
