tradition and religion-boon or bane  

i would like to know what you guys think about this? for me it just divides people makes them enemies and end of the day leads to shedding of innocent blood. and i think if humanity as a whole wants to make real progress it should get over these concepts. a wise man once said "religion is the opiate of the masses"
religion in its true spirit is like a fluid.....flowing and free...but over the years we have made solid ice vlocks our of it. i feel that this just empahasizes how we have compartmentalized it into rigid,self suiting,narrow dividing ice cubes that unfortunately for our convinience we just put it in any drink(politics,power conquests,exploitation based on caste, gender, sports etc etc)distorting what religion is actually to mankind. what makes people enemies is probably all kinds of deprivation(economic,social,political etc),desire to be powerful,impatience,jealousy and religion falls prey because it is the easiest and most cost effective way to mobilize people.its easy for deprived individuals to just transfer their faith from the divine forces to the pathological evil forces of an intelligent mind(brain washing).that's why the so called "messia's"of be it any religion)are sprouting and obstruting all kinds of personal,spiritual,technological progress.
