Gathering, gathering, what shall I gather? | | | | Where do I start? My chives, my oregano, my marjorum? Gathering, gathering, what shall I gather? (Refrain) Milkweed fluff, evening primrose blossoms, dandelion roots, soapwort roots Refrain Sometimes there is almost nothing to gather and sometimes there is almost too much. Especially on a day when you need to go to work, there is easily too much. Have you ever had too much stuff to harvest or gather? Have you often had not enough? Do you feel you have just the right amount? Do you gather from the wild with respect for the resourses such as only taking 1/3 or 1/7 or some other number? If you harvest, do you save seed? What do you gather and what do you do with it? If none of the above pertains to you, do you ever make up little songs in your head about everyday things? The above one has too many syllables to work out very well, but I like the refrain. Take care. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | Hi Sedge I harvest! seed heads..I go by park type places in the fall sometimes when out walking the dog and I see flowers this time of year with nothing left but a greyblack seed pod,, or it is rotted from all the rain.. but I pick a few of these dead things then and put them in one of the poopbaggies,, what are they actually called escapes me now, but I always have 2 with me.. for cleaning up after my dog..and then I take them home and sort these seed heads to dry in my washing room and hope they actually will be something nice after I plant them. And they are often.. I have even wild asters that I picked this way in the country one time. and rudbekia and echinacea.. and.. well YOU know.. lol The rest of my harvest is from the garden and includes seeds and small new growths of my plants I give to neighbours or move elsewhere in the community where I live. And yes,, the grapes on the patio and the tomatoes against it are already harvested so.. too late, my dear friend,, too late! umm.. songs? dear sedge, my LIFE is a song,, always there is a song in my head! | proof of the gathering

| | Your "found seed garden" is beautiful! I just enlarged the picture. Gave you a plus, too. How wonderful! Yes, an extra baggy of any time certainly is wonderful for gathering, itn't it? Always a song in your head? How do you think? All the wonderful things you harvest. My husband would love the grapes and tomatoes. We didn't grow tomatoes this year and last year my husband cut the grapes back because it was the third year. But next year, we should have some. Thanks very much and take care. | | | | fjaril (6097)

| | Did you see my answer to someone who wanted to feed $120 people an X-mas dinner with either turkey or ham plus sides and a desert. I told them since Banquet meals are 10 for $10, go for it (ha, ha). It has turkey, cranberry sauce, green beans, mashed potatoes and apple crisp. Zapping 120 microwave TV dinners, now that would be the miracle. | | | | writersedge (7235)

| | One of the most popular hymns ever, I find out. Words & Music: Robert Lowry, 1864. Shall we gather at the river, Where bright angel feet have trod, With its crystal tide forever Flowing by the throne of God? Yes, we’ll gather at the river, The beautiful, the beautiful river; Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God. On the margin of the river, Washing up its silver spray, We will talk and worship ever, All the happy golden day. Yes, we’ll gather at the river, The beautiful, the beautiful river; Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God. Ere we reach the shining river, Lay we every burden down; Grace our spirits will deliver, And provide a robe and crown. Yes, we’ll gather at the river, The beautiful, the beautiful river; Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God. At the smiling of the river, Mirror of the Savior’s face, Saints, whom death will never sever, Lift their songs of saving grace. Yes, we’ll gather at the river, The beautiful, the beautiful river; Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God. Soon we’ll reach the shining river, Soon our pilgrimage will cease; Soon our happy hearts will quiver With the melody of peace. Yes, we’ll gather at the river, The beautiful, the beautiful river; Gather with the saints at the river That flows by the throne of God. | | | | fjaril (6097)
