Why is my cat so interested in my tea cup?  

Well, it all depends on what the ingredients of the tea are. Some cats just love to smell different teas. One of my cats love the smell of coffee- and that just boggles my mind. We may not know why cats do what they do, but they surely keep us entertained!!

I don't know why.
If I have a jug of sun tea sitting outside Sparkle comes along andlays down near the jug but always sniffs it first.
My cat Princess would always try to drink tea too.
Who knows? Cats are strange and wonderful creatures.

Maybe its the herbal or what ever facter of tea she wants, cand do any harm in her having a "cuppa", maybe make her one of her own and see how it goes.

Some of the teas that are for relaxation.. have a touch of Catnip in them...that might be why!

he'd walk right up,look at her,then stick his paw in for a drink.

When I lived on my own and had a couple of cats both of them loved my iced tea. I drank iced tea all the time and I had to guard it... Pinky would actually take tastes of my tea if I left it.

Well I don't drink tea, I don't like it. So I don't know if my cat would drink it or not. I know my cat will drink my water. I will have a cup of water on my nightstand or on a table and he will try to drink it. He will have clean and fresh water, I guess he thinks mine is more fresh and clean.

So I have to watch when I have a cup of water somewhere. He likes to lick the ice cubes that are in the water I think too. I have seen him do that. When it gets really hot I will sometimes put ice cubes in his bowl of water.

I think its just your cat as my mum's cat is never interested in my cup of tea when I stay with her. He is too interested in being a mummy's cat or off causing trouble outside.
