yes, this is true. There are some colleges who are now offering students a free bike if they promise not to drive a car to school, ever. I think that this is a great idea!! Not only will it help the environment, but save the students money in the long run.
My only concern is bad weather. What do they do if they are in an area that has bad weather?

This is a good idea, offering bicycles. During bad weather? It will depend on how far the route is, but a combination of old-fashioned walking and carpooling can be a good alternative.

I think that is a great idea. The only problem, as stated, would be bad weather when that pops up. But yeah, otherwise, I think giving students who don't drive to school a free bicycle to use is great. I could see several benefits from this (most of which are the obvious ones others have mentioned). Not only would it help people to get in better shape and healthier, it would help out the environment as well as helping relieve gas prices and dependency on gasoline and oil (okay, maybe not by much, but some is better than nothing).
Riding my bike to school is something I've really wanted to do. I guess it doesn't matter now though since today I'm finally done with college.

I think it is a good way to keep yourself fit and healthy besides saving you money into buying a car and putting fuel into it. Cycling in bad weather is a big problem. One has to wear a good raincoat otherwise he or she will get soaked. © ronaldinu 2008

Yes I agree, it will definitely help the environment in more ways than one. The students are really agreeing with this? That's good. I just thought that more students would rather drive their car than to ride a bike. I say this because I know college students that feels that they have to drive their car and even admit to being too lazy to ride a bike.
That's really good that these students are up for it. They would save a lot of money in the long haul anyways.
