i have some mild food allergies and not sure yet if i have other ones. i heard about the rotation diet where it looks like you would not eat the same food more than once every 4 to 5 days. it claims that you should be able to tolerate foods that you are mildly allergic to if you follow this way of eating. has anyone else tried this diet?

I've been doing this rotation diet for over 20 years. If I don't eat beef more than once a week, I can eat it without any trouble. But if I eat it more often, or if I eat it less than 5 days and don't skip a week I will have trouble. Some foods I've never been able to rotate back in, like corn, others I just don't like the reaction enough so I just avoid them, but because of all my food allergies, I have to have meat and I am careful to rotate them in so they don't bother me.

when i do this diet, do i just rotate the foods i'm having problems with (dairy, wheat, corn, potatoes) or do i rotate every single food i eat every 4 days?

There is kind of 2 sides to that. Yes, certainly rotate the foods that bother you, but be careful that you don't always eat the same foods together - that seems to cause trouble too, according to my doctor. Also watch what you do eat together - for example, apples and eggs should never be eaten together, they aggrivate each other. It is a good idea to not eat the foods that aren't bothering you every day, because they can start. I've over done it with carrots I think and that was one of the few foods I didn't test allergic to, but now they seem to bother me.
So, the best bet, is to at least not eat food that doesn't bother you every day, tho you can probably not be so rigorious about rotating them and you probably can eat them 2 days in a row so long as you aren't doing it daily. Also to switch up meal plans so that you don't end up with potatos with the same meat every time you eat potatos and things of that nature.
It can be hard, and you will find that you do back slide - I know I do, but I am careful about the things that really bother me.

Easy. It doesn't work.
None of these "fad diets" do.
There is one proven way to lose weight, and that is to burn more calories than you consume. Exercise more, and either eat less or eat foods with fewer calories. Do that, and you will lose weight; just don't expect immediate results.

i can tell you didn't even read my discussion or you would clearly see that i was NOT looking for a diet to lose weight. i'm looking for something to help my allergies.
