My husband just had a bad tummy ache and I gave him congee and plan to serve chicken soup, hoping that this will help him recover faster. Any additional tips?

If I have a really bad tummy ache, I stay away from food. Otherwise, I take it slow. I will have some flat 7-up. Or maybe some Alka-Seltzer. Just clear liquid stuff.

I normally do not eat anything at all until my stomach starts to feel better. If I have a stomach ache and I eat anything at all I will be vomiting it back up anyway.

I usually eat a banana. Congee's good for sickly people too because it's easy to digest and doesn't seem to attack any medicine. But sometimes I find it too bland when I'm not sick, so I want a banana. It's sweet enough but still light on the tummy. :) Plus it has more nutrients than just plain congee, unless you cook the congee using chicken broth.

I always give lime juice (without water) with little bit of strong black tea. It's very much faster than all the other medicines.

I eat one cup of rice with a gravy poured on it. I do this every time I recovered from stomache. I feel satisfied that I'm full again after eating this favorite food of mine.
