How are we divided so evenly? | | As I am watching the election results come in, I wonder how we seem to continuously divided so evenly. It is not decided yet but things look pretty good for Obama (still hoping for a McCain upset though). But it looks like the popular vote is going to be very close again. This means that the last three elections have been close to 50/50 with the election being decided in a few close toss up states. Is the country really divided so closely down party lines or is their something else going on? I feel that the Republicans have not done much to separate themselves from Democrats. There is no longer a conservative party in the country. Just a moderate party and a liberal party. What reason do you feel is the reason that the elections continue to be so close?

Look at the discussions about health care coverage. Talk about making changes in our seriously flawed and overpriced health care system and suddenly we're being forced into socialized medicine.
Taxes...OMG, don't tax the rich a little bit more and give the middle class a break or the country will be in economic ruin. Guess what? The rich have been getting all of the breaks for years with the middle class carrying the weight and our economy stinks.
I don't believe this election will be close. Important states have gone to the Democrats so either the polls have been flawed all along or more people decided at the last minute that they want change, not more of the same.
