Just gave the wrong direction to a stranger unintentionally

Have you experienced giving the wrong direction to a stranger? This past weekend I just did. As I was waiting for a public vehicle to ride in, someone on a motorcycle stopped in front of me and asked which way goes to a specific garden. I told him to go the other way. He already went when I finally realized he's on the right way already. I really feel the guilt on what happened. But it's fine. He has a motorcycle and he can arrive to his destination quickly. It is just those who were with him who are walking to go uphill I'm more concerned with.

It is easy done, sometimes we are caught offguard when someone stops us in the street, in this day and age you tend to get paranoid in this precarious world that if you are a woman in particular if a guy drives up to you, you can't help thinking the worst, why have they stopped by me? You do get suspicious and wary of strangers! I did this a few times, more so when I was much younger, don't laugh but I had problem with left and right and I said left instead of right, I was walking on my own and I worried all the way home that the driver would return and give me hassle for putting him on the wrong road!

I'm also a bit paranoid when I realized the wrong direction I gave and the man left already. He's on a motorcycle and he can get back easily and do something bad to me. It's not my intention to give the wrong way but I just feel guilty about it. I should just be careful next time.

I know the feeling; I thought I did the same once (luckily, I found out later that my directions were actually okay). The guilt caught me bad and I couldn't stop imagining how annoyed they'd be when they received the right directions. .

I too have given wrong directions unintentionally, I don't think there is anything wrong if you don't do it intentionally. It happens sometimes that we are in a hurry and we give wrong directions to strangers who asked for directions.

The stranger just stopped in front of me and immediately asked directions. Maybe it's the reason why I wasn't able to think carefully when I was talking to him. Now I remember. The public vehicle I was to ride with was already arriving so I just gave him a quick answer. Too late to realize it was the wrong way.

Since you felt you guilty then all it has gone from your side. It happens naturally sometimes for all because of the dormant memory and i hope the stranger would have enquired again at the next post or the next turn and he also going for an unknown sure he wont have a mindset of reaching the roads right

You deserve the best response.:) I guess it is by little chance that we will meet each other again. He is far from the my place I assume. He would have been familiar with the place if he's there most of the time.
