Do you really see "the change" in Obama? |
|
First of all, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to America. It seems that you finally found the hope amidst the economic crisis you've experienced with the previous administration.
Now that President Barack Obama is now leading the most powerful country in the world, do you really think he can handle this kind of responsibility? Good enough that the change he's saying will be clearly seen by 305,595,000 Americans.
I know this is not the right time to be judgmental about anything but perhaps some American myLotters will contribute some useful insights about the newly elected president.

I am not an American but I think think he should be given a chance, he has not yet set his foot in the white house yet, but I know that he has his work cut out for him, he is young and I think he will pull it off, it will take a long time before we see any changes but that is what that country needs, afterall all it will our own country too, th UK.

23. momoftwingirls (622) | 1 year ago | Well, I did not vote for him, and it was not do to him being black. I did not vote for him because I do not like his willingness to act like Robin Hood and give my well earned money to those making $20K and under or paying no taxes at all.
Also, I am not a fan of the Socialist movement.
I voted for Ron Paul because I decided this year to NOT vote for the lesser of two evils, as I saw it.

25. kun2349 (7333) | 1 year ago | I'm not an american, but i believe that he will be a more better president as compared to george bush and other presidents b4 him^_^ HE's a a friendly guy as wel as humble.. He had been thru hardships to really know what's expected of him, and how should him help the country, as well as the world.. He has been thru enough exposure to things, and that he understands it better than anybody else.. Thus, i believe he will be a great world leader of all times^_^

26. eyewitness (1143) | 1 year ago | Her in my country we followed the elections. We alos followed the elections from the other presidents.I think i was 15 when they chose Bush.At that time we couldn't believe why America chose him.We thought Al Gore would win. Well then they chose Bush twice. And we all were thinking America what are you doing,You're destroying yourselves. These elections we prayed they would choose Obama. And they did and i'm so proud about the Americans.I feel so much joy in my heart because finally there's an honest person who will help America. What i also want to say concerning elections in generally is that it seems people choose with the wrong reason.People vote against someone because the person is not against for example abortion or because he or she is black. Here in holland one person asked me why i didn't vote for the christian politician. The fact was that Mr Peter Balkenende just like Wouter Bos are not good politicians. When Wouter Bos says it's not gonna happen it's gonna happen and vice versa. I said to her why are you choosing a bad politician because you share the same faith. They think oh he's christian so he's good.No the dude is destroying the country. a lot people vote for a person because they always voted for them. America has shown that they're not that kind of country anymore and they are an example for me.I hope other Dutch people will open there eyes for the next elections. Coming back to Obama.I wish him all the best and ofcourse my congrats to him and his family.

27. PrincessKitten (644) | 1 year ago | Living in the US under the past Bush administrations, it was all about scare tactics and keeping the public under some form of red alert. These scare tactics were used to distract us while the government either took away more of our rights or passed more laws for their benefit.
With Obama in office, hopefully the focus will be more on solving problems rather than hunkering down in our homes, frightened that every little noise and shadow might be a terrorist out to rob us of our proud American heritage and Constitutional rights that most of us don't know anyway.
I'm not sure that Obama is the answer but he makes us eager to come up with a solution rather than fearing the outcome.

28. jillmalitz (3943) | 1 year ago | I think, from watching his attitude and personality, he can at least try. He, like all other new Presidents, has his ideas and plans for the future of this country. Whether or not he will be able to put into effect what he wants will be up to the congress. He can propose policies but they have to be debated and discussed between the Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate. Many times something is proposed and by the time it is ready to be voted into law it may be completely different from what was porposed.

29. getnbuy (1020) | 1 year ago | I would like to respond. My take on the whole campaign is that he never actually said what kind of change. He did say there would be more armies besides the US services. Community armies does not sound good to me. I worry that he will take guns away from the people. That is the first thing Hitler did. I worry that he will take power away from the individual states and make it a federal power. Perhaps that is called socialism? I hope that CHANGE mean good change. Since he never really said, it worries me. Also, personally, I have had not had any economic grief like the media is saying we all are experiencing. I think it is the greedy leaders of the companies that went broke that are suffering. Perhaps it has just not trickled down to me, yet, but my life goes on as normal, with even gas prices going down again! So, I look forward with trepidation, but with optimism that Obama will rise to the occasion.

nanajanet (2665) | 1 year ago | I think we all have trepidation with any new president as it is virgin territory for all of us, including a new president. We already know, after one term in office, how a president is but always a new one there is wonder in how it will go. Neither is there perfection in any president because, no matter how good their future policies are, someone, somewhere, will not always agree on policy.
I am looking forward to this one. My gut feelings are good and so far, my gut feelings have been right about each president I voted for, except for my first one (Nixon), which I went against my gut feelings. Always listen to your instincts!! LOL

30. nanajanet (2665) | 1 year ago | I watched his press conference today, in fact I am watching it now (I taped it) and I am confident that he is going to be very pro-active. He is jumping on his job very soon and that tells me that he is serious about not dilly-dallying around the issues and being proactive in starting what he wishes to get done. He is already trying to get together his effort to help the economy, what he feels is first and foremost in what he had. I can see how he has become serious and I feel it had really hit him the enormity of his job. Not to say he was not prepared, but really, who knows what it is like until they have already done it. I wish him much success, as it only will only be our success.
