Do you really see "the change" in Obama? | | First of all, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to America. It seems that you finally found the hope amidst the economic crisis you've experienced with the previous administration.
Now that President Barack Obama is now leading the most powerful country in the world, do you really think he can handle this kind of responsibility? Good enough that the change he's saying will be clearly seen by 305,595,000 Americans.
I know this is not the right time to be judgmental about anything but perhaps some American myLotters will contribute some useful insights about the newly elected president.

But change can be felt in Obama's victory, and it is the hope every american clings to like a faint light at the end of a dark tunnel.

So, to me Mccain, Obama or Bush, its the same.

| | 45. AnythngArt (1686) | 1 year ago | Unfortunately, President-Elect Obama doesn't actually take office until January 20th, so there's not much impact he can make on anything until Bush leaves office. He's still a member of the US Senate until then, and said today that he would work on getting a stimulus package through Congress if possible.
I think Obama will make a great president, and will put good economic policies in place, but this mess wasn't created overnight and it will take some time to straighten everything out. I do have confidence in Obama and the Democrats. When Clinton began his presidency, there was a huge budget deficit, and when he left, there was a budget surplus, so it can be done. Things can change for the better! Obama will do it!

My opinion is that the country needs some change and I see more of a change coming from Obama than there would have been from McCain. I like the way that he presents himself much better and I do think that he is going to make a difference IF the people will give a chance to prove that he can make a difference AND they don't expect things to happen overnight. I do think that he can handle the responsibility and I don't understand how everyone forgets that the country is run by more than just one man. He will have others who will be there with him, guiding, suggesting, vetoeing, pushing, supporting, etc and as a government they will see that change will come, in my opinion.

I do not believe his skin colour is relevant at all, whether he identifies himself as black or white as he is half of both. We do not say "the country has elected a white President", so why should emphasis be put on Obama's skin colour. Anyone who does that, including the President-elect, is morally wrong.
He is inexperienced in many ways but that can be overcome with time and in the interim, he need to have some good experienced advisors. The current global economic situation is pretty bad and that is something he will have to deal withb fairly quickly with strong leadership. At the same time he will have to ensure that whatever he dedices does not increase the unemployment levels in the US.
The economic crisis is not limited to the United States but what the larger countries do also affects other countries. One thing to remember is that incoming governments always blame previous governments for problems that relate to all sort of policies from the economy, health, education and general living.
At this time he is still President elect and not actually the President. From memory he will be sworn in as President in mid-January 2009 and until that time there is nothing much he can do - other than choose his team and start to work out how his election promises can be put into action. All leaders, whatever their political persuasion, of whatever country you care to name comes in with high ideals but how they actually perform cannot be truly measured for the first couple of years.

I think it is too early to see the change in him. All the people have voted having faith in him. His motivational speeches swayed the crowd towards him and he has some very good points in his agenda for the benefit of america and the world.
But, when he gave all those speeches, he was not the president. Now, he is going to be. With power comes great responsibility. When he gave the speeches, he was not responsible, but he said he would be, as a president. HAndling the responsibilities as president and talking that he would handle the change responsibly are two different things altogether and is often easier said than done!
Power can change anyone's mind. Let's see how he reacts to this big change in him first! When he is not swayed away by the power of the power that he holds, he would then convert his speeches into reality.

So, I think whoever is the leader of the United States, we are bound to get affected by it one way or the other. In my opinion, "Obama" may be a good leader but if I were to choose, I think Hilary should go first before him. Words are to deceiving compared to actions. He can be the president after Clinton's term so there would be two Democrats in two terms to fix all the problems that Bush administration had created. However, I do wish Barack can do a splendid job in minimizing the dilemmas of this great nation.
