Arsenal 2 - 1 Man United. Does this result leave the EPL as a two-horse race? |
| |
| After Arsenal's victory over Man U, it leaves both clubs as much as upto 5-6 points behind the leaders at this stage. Liverpool sits top with 29 points, Chelsea would regain top spot if they win their game in hand and will also be on 29 points. Man U even if they win their game in hand will only be at 24 points and that would be 5 behind, Arsenal are at 23 points which means they are 6 points behind!! So for either of these clubs to have any chance now, both the top clubs have to start dropping some points now!! Do you see it happening? Cheers! Ram | | | | | |

| | It is indeed far too early to rule out the likes of Arsenal and Man Utd for the title, I think they have as much chance as the front runners, Liverpool and Chelsea. Although statistically they are behind, a fantastic team like Arsenal have great mentality to not let this affect them, so no, I do not think it is a two horse title race just yet. | | | |

| | Actually i'll rule Arsenal out even if they have won Man U. Arsenal's depth is really not as strong as Man U's, Chelsea's or Liverpool's. I foresee they will not be able to keep up with the leaders sooner or later. | | | |

| | I think bloodshedder brings out a valid point. I think the question is going to be the depth of the squads and sustained performance. On those two parameters, the last two years, it has just been Chelsea and Man U with Liverpool and Arsenal bringing the rear. But this year there is a new verve to Liverpool and they seem to be winning even when the chips are down. Chelsea is playing fantastic even with all the injuries that the squad is currently carrying. Arsenal are still too greenhorn, but they really have nothing to lose at this stage. Man U though is a major concern as they seem to blow hot and cold this year!! Cheers! Ram | | | |

| | It was the same gap of points last season between Manu & Chelsea, it was really difficult for Chelsea to narrow the gap with Manu so it'll be the same for Manu or Arsenal right for the moment, ya Chelsea & Liverpool will also feel the pressure but i wanna say is that you feel more pressurize when you're chasing than when you're leading. As Lampard has commented if Manu lost another game they might be out of race cos this season the comptt seems to be more tougher which has never happened before. | | | | | | |

| | The difference from last year though is the fact that Chelsea and Liverpool are also having to look at each other apart from the chasing pack. Last year Man U was more or less clear at the top, but this was late in the season. As some of the people have mentioned, it is probably still too early in the season just yet. Cheers! Ram | | | |

| | No not by a long shot, this year it seems will be closer than ever, with each of the top 4 very strong you cannot count any of them out. At the top is Chelsea with such goalscoring prowess so far it's getting hard to keep count of the goals tally. Liverpool are looking more and more like a championship winning team with their 'never say die attitude'.. Arsenal, who can play beautiful football are more than capable of going on a long unbeaten run..Manchester Utd cannot be written off but have not so far this season managed to win against any of the other top 3.. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, you are right this year is a lot closer. Not only at the top, but at the bottom as well with any of 14 teams with a chance to get relegated!! Cheers! Ram | | | |

| | it too early to call epl a two horse race. couple of bad results and couple of good results may change the tables. even though arsenal wining over manutd was a great result the chances are looking weak for them at the movement. but again anything can happen in football, after seeing last year what happened, 6 points is not a big lead. well, the transfer window is opening too early this season, it will get opened after 18 match, that early in the season. even though we may not see any big move, but team will get a chance to strengthen their weakness. by this year end or by end of jan in 2009 we might get a better picture. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, of the four Arsenal is arguably weaker of the lot, but arguably also play the best football of the lot. The irony was highlighted in the match against Man U as they tried to play football with Arsenal and lost 1-2!! Cheers! Ram | | | |

| | well, i am a arsenal fan and i feel they play the most beautiful and attractive football then many other teams. last season manutd good run started after beating injured arsenal side. this time, i hope arsenal does the same this year. the most striking thing in that match was they won the match without there main strikers. they have nothing to lose this season, just play there heart out. | | | |

| | For Arsenal and Arsene Wenger's sake I do hope that they win at least one trophy this year. For four years now, they have played wonderful football for no trophies!! Cheers! Ram | | | |

| | Maybe it's quite early to predict the season's end. But anything is possible now. If Man Utd keeps on dropping some valuable point then the chance for them to retain the crown will surely dim. The critical time will come during the end of December and the team that leads the table after that time will hold the bright chance to win the Premiership. | | | | | | |

| | I don't think Man U or Arsenal can afford to drop any further points. Man U still have to visit Stamford Bridge and Arsenal has to visit all the top three away, so this is really going to be interesting as they cannot loose at these venues. If they win then they will throw the title run wide open!! Cheers! Ram | | | |
