National Health Service in the UK

Just a note about the National Health Service here in the UK. People are always moaning and groaning here but I just want to tell you my experience lately. My wife and I were on holiday recently and were taking a last walk before returning home when she caught her foot in the gutter and fell. Luckily I was able to catch her and the only damage was to her ankle. She was in pain but we strapped it up and returned home next day. She was now in considerable pain and we went straight to hospital where they kept her in with a broken foot!!!! The care she received in Doncaster hospital was superb and they could not do enough for her. She was discharged after a few days complete with "pot", then we recieved a call from the local re-hab nurses who called almost daily with immense care and diligence. Also the local red cross dept called and came up with all the gadgets necessary for help in the home. I have nothing but good to say about the NHS. Long may it survive.

Hi there taffy26 and welcome to mylot! You know something I couldn't agree with you more. Where I live the doctors are fantastic. I don't seem to wait long to get appointments and am given the help and advice I need for myself and 3 children. Also I have had 3 births and I couldn't find anything to complain about, not that I was looking for something to complain about. My first child was a bit tricky with a long labour but everybody at the hospital were great. He was born in Bristol and my other two in Basildon, Essex and no complaints there either. I think the Brits just love to whinge!! Happy mylotting!!

Think yourself lucky that you don't live in the USA. Have a look at this discussion that's just started about the lies that are being spread about the NHS in the USA. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2101940.aspx#2_19868414
