Do you shut down your cell phone when you sleep at night?

That depends on what your options are. If you are an important part of your work and you prefer to be bothered by work matters you may opt to have your phone turned on while you sleep. There are also advantages if you want to be reachable by your family or relatives if something turns up like an emergency. I leave my phone open for any emergency just in case. My work never calls me while I'm off. Cheers!

I like my cellphone off and far far away from me when I am sleeping. The only time it is allowed into my bedroom is when I need it as an alarm clock.

From what you said, it seems that what's really bothering you is getting some real rest. There is no way you can really rest well if you are constantly anticipating calls in the middle of the night. Turning off the phone or not becomes a symbolism of that anticipation.

I used to have a job that requires me to respond to calls no matter the time, particularly calls from countries of a opposite timezone to mine. I went to bed every night feeling really high strung. For the 3 months I was on the job I probably was as jittery as an insomniac.

Call me cruel if you wish, but apart from job demands, I rather anyone else who really needs me in the dead of the night to call me on the landline or the police if necessary.

well for me personally, i don't shut down my cell. For a number of different reasons. For examples, I have a sick sister she has to be placed at the hospital at times, she has problems breathing. I would not feel good about myself knowing that she has taken sick, family tried to contact me and my cell was off so they couldn't have gotten through to me. I don't want to miss any emergency calls. Another reason is the type of job I do. Sometimes my boss may call me at night to update me on important information that i may need to get started on first thing the next morning. I would not like to miss any of his calls, because there was this one time i missed his calls and he left a angry message on my voice mail. so believe you me i don't want to be missing any of his call for a while. but for me I don't really have a problem leaving on my cell, because i don't want to miss any important calls. So i choose not to shut my cell down.

i turn off my cellphone long time ago.and now i always keep it on,because the battery can last for nearly a week,there's no need to save its energy.and i don't believe the radiation can hurt my body,because i put it rather far from me at night.what's more,i turn the volume at full at top.

No, I don't shutoff my cellphone at night. I have heard about this health issue on using a cell phone and I am not a bit bother by it. I don't think the cell phone will kill me first. Anyway, I don't place my cell phone in my bed when I sleep. I place is somewhere far but not too far because the best protection with radiation is distance and time of exposure. If you maximize this, your cell phone radiation will not kill you first. Have a good night sleep!

Oh NO way hosea. I use my cell phone as my alarm in the mornings. So shutting it down would mean I would probably be late into work the next day. I could not have that, especially since they changed the tardy rules from a 5 minute grace period to a 1 minute grace period. So no more tardies period is the absolute underlined policy now. You don't know how frustrating it can be when you have planned to be on time and you went to sleep early enough have your clothes laid out for the next day and then you wake up late all because your alarm didn't go off.

What I do is check my battery everyday, and if my cell phone needs charging then I put the charger on and leave the phone power on. THis ensures my phone is charged and my alarm is set and ready to wake me UP! Thank God for technology!

We only use our cell when we go out, so it's off most of the time. In the house we have our land line and all calls are included in our monthly payment.

I usually shut it down as I want to lengthen the accu's life. Even I shut it down I will receive a notification in SMS as someone phoned me up when it was off (so I could call him/her back and if s/he wanted to call me without giving his/her telephone number to me that is his/her problem) and if someone could send me an SMS or other kind of messages I'd receive it when I switch my phone on.

No we don't.We don't have a regular land line phone service so the cell phones are the only way to reach us.We sleep with the phones close on a table where we can hear them but not too close.;-)

I have to keep my phone switched on in case my disabled employer needs to get in touch with me. It's the only reason I have one!

I don't think it does any damage health-wise as it's not that close to me. Surely if you are carrying it around on your person all day then keeping it on at night isn't going to make things worse.
