Do you shut down your cell phone when you sleep at night?

I put my phone on charge while I sleep but I don't switch it off.

There is a lot of misunderstanding about 'cell phone radiation'. In the first place, unless you are making or taking a call, the phone is in 'listen' mode and there is no more danger from it than there is from an ordinary radio or TV. It is only when it is transmitting that there is any radiation that could be dangerous. Even then, it can be shown that it is only when you hold the phone to your ear (and therefore near your brain) that the radiation can even approach the strength needed to be harmful. The only cases where harm from using a cell phone has been shown to be a possibility are those of people who are on the phone constantly and therefore expose themselves to many hours of contact a day.

If I were in a position where my friends or my boss would call me at any time of the day and night, then I would turn it off! I believe that everyone needs sleep at the very least, if not a few hours of privacy in the evening. I would see it as a gross intrusion of my private life if my boss thought he could call me at any time! One of the big advantages that cell phones have over a landline is that they are able to receive text messages. I would, of course, read those when I woke up.

I always switch off my cellphone when i sleep at night.When i used to work in call centers.I had to keep my phone on in the night.IF there was a message for me they would tell it through phone.When i'm working for a day time job my phone is off

no I don't turn my cellphone off at night never have.its always on incase someone calls which is more than like as mostly everyone has my mobile number anyway..littleowl

I use my cell phone as an alarm and, as the alarm only works when the phone is on, I have to keep it on during the week! I used to have a phone on which the alarm would work even if the phone was switched off which I found much better but my current one isn't that good so I have to put up with being able to receive calls at night as well!

I don't worry about the radiation because there is no reason to think there was a problem. There was a theory which said that cell phones give off enough heat to boil an egg but an experiment showed that even 100 cell phones all ringing at the same time for 3 minutes don't give off enough heat from radiation to even warm an egg let alone boil it so I think it is safe to say that there is no real danger of radiation just because you leave your phone on at night. Perhaps having it permanently attached to your ear might cause problems though!

I do not turn off my cellphone at because it is my alarm clock in the morning. I need it also for emergency calls. In fact, I put it under my pillow so I can hear it when it is ringing. I also put it in loud volume so I can wake up immediately in times of emergency. It is not a big deal to me to wake up for a call.

yes i shut my cellphone off at night don,t want to be distrupted at night when iam sleeping.

Well,I am a student now,so I don't have those problems with phone shutted down.Everyday I usually shut down my cellphone when I sleep,I don't like to be bothered by others when I sleep.

Actually I rarely turn mine on! It's for emergencies only and I don't use it much, it's just handy to have so my son can contact me or like the other day when the electric went and I had to call someone out. The landline wasn't working. I think that we should all turn off all electrical applances at night and cell phones because we're wasting the charge by leaving them on, we need to use less electric for the sake of the atmosphere.

I actually use my cell phone as an alarm clock so no I do not turn it off when I go to sleep.

at night i will put it in the silent mode and sleep well.
