John Denver - partly popular in my house |
| |
| We've had the John Denver CD playing in the car for a couple of weeks now. Cary and Naomi like some of the songs, but Dearra isn't too excited about John Denver. "Take Me Home Country Roads" came on and when it was over, Naomi asked me to play it again. I told her I like it too, in fact it's one of the very first records I ever bought. Dearra says, "it must be really old then." After that we got in discussion about country music and Dearra allowed that she does like it sometimes but "with women singers who have good voices." Anybody else with me? Or are you with Dearra? Or no idea what I"m talking about? lol | | | | | |

| | I used to love John Denver. I think that was also one of the first albums I ever bought. And the "Take Me Home Country Roads" was my favorite song. So I am with you here. | | | | | | |

| | I actually really like that song as well! My daughter would keel over and die if she knew that her mom listened to it! She already thinks that I am not cool enough as it is lol. | | | | | | |

| | My oldest is 11, was a total daddy's girl but has recently figured out that mom has things to offer. The two little ones are 8 and the boy has suddenly discovered daddy. His twin sister kind of trolls for attention back and forth. None of them have reached the 'my parents are total idiots stage yet'... | | | |

| | John Denver's music is timeless. His songs touch your heart. His voice was smooth and carefree. When I hear a John Denver song it brings me great joy. | | | | | | |

| | I think John had problems with the alcohol. But I know that he wasn´t alone about this problem. I think he died in an airplane accident, maybe I´m wrong. I think I have got a milder variant of the flu, have been coughing a lot since last week. Oddly, but we survive most of the things | | | |

| | I didn't know about the alcohol, but yes it's true he died in a plane crash. Apparently he was an amateur pilot. sorry you're not feeling well! Feel better soon! | | | |

| | I´m not 100% sure about the alcohol. But i think many famous people use any kind of drugs. Shall I tell you the true,I feel a bit better when I´m sitting with my dearest friend,my laptop. And it´s a bit healthy for me,when my responses leads to a discussion, thank you | | | |
dawnald (24262)

| | Plus when he first got famous that was the drug culture and things were easier to get (I'm guessing). Well that's sad anyway, for anybody, to love somebody that much and then lose them whatever the reason. Even sadder if it's drugs or alcohol. | | | |

| | From one thing to another(typical me)I have been working over 20 years with sick and old people.Promise you that I have seen a lot. But i most often find it a bit interesting to talk with people who have different kind of problems. Most often, the drug addicts have been lived both a poor and rich life. With rich I mean that they have seen a lot, that we other haven´t seen | | | |

| | I know exactly what you are talking about.I love John Denver music. It was so sad when he died.I recently heard that it was just not a plane accident. The plane was tamperred with to purposly make him crash! How sad! I like country music...... "Woman singers"? Sexist! Lol! | | | | | | |

| | I never heard the plane was tampered with. I did hear it was an experimental plane. Well did they ever catch who did it? | | | |
dfollin (2652)
|
| | No,they just ruled it as accidental, which was stupid. The man who built the plane put the gas tank too far away for John to reach and he could not give the plane more fuel to fly. So,he crashed. | | | |
