I noticed that some long discussions get short responses. I don't mind if I have posted a long discussion but received a single liner response. For me, it is either the responder summarized his/her response or didn't really read the discussion but only the title of the discussion. What about you? Do you get irritated to get short responses for your long discussions? And why?

No it wouldn't irritate me at all as long as it gives me an answer to my question or helps me. It's only irritating if people go offtopic or write 50+ sentences without punctuations.

It irritates me, yes. But, I have also found that a lot of times, I will start an extremely complex discussion and get blah responses. Or people try to make their responses long and they just don't make sense. I hate that too. But, I also understand that there are many members from other places in the world that are not as great with English, and thats fine. But, its those who are familiar with the English Language and make themselves seem less intelligent with their longer responses......lol

i dont get irritated to long discussions but short responses for this is a discussion. some people elaborates their responses and some just go straight to the point. so it doesnt matter if their responses are short for me i am happy to see that friends and other members as well spend time to read my discussions and post their views about it.

Guess so. Sometimes I do welcome short responses or like you say, straight to the point. It is easily understood. For those long responses, yeah sometimes I have to reread the whole response before I can get what they mean. It does kinda time consuming. However, I appreciate those who gave their long thoughts responses. It only shows that they took the discussion seriously.

There are many users on myLot who are only here to attempt to make money. Actually reading long responses takes time and typing a thoughtful response even more, so they often give some tired generic response.
I don't know how much myLot rewards short responses that add very little to a discussion, but I don't imagine that it's very much. I am glad that myLot rewards quality responses and users that consistently post quality because, in the long run, that is the only way to insure an interesting forum that people will want to return too. I am a member of many forums that allow a free for all on quantity posts and I often get bored with those sites and return only intermittently to check back in with well known friends.
With a $10 cashout limit I imagine that those type of posters must have to work very hard to reach payout if they do not give up first.
My experience has been that I have to work a little harder at first to find worthwhile discussions, but some people on myLot are great and have interesting thoughts and opinions, so the additional work is rewarded. Quickly you learn to tune out most of the background noise.
Good post ellie26. :)

There are those people here on Mylot who believe in quantity over quality, and feel that by the time they have read a long discussion they have lost time, and don't want to have read it for nothing, so they leave a short response. There are also those who don't take the time to read the long discussion, skim it over leaving a short response based on what they have skimmed.

Like summarizing the whole discussion? Honestly, I think those who gave short responses may only read the topic and response to the topic only without even reading the entire content. Sometimes I do find that some topic and discussion are totally mismatched, not related.

I won't say that I feel irritated after reading one line response to my discussions. I feel thankful to the person who has responded even a one liner. But on the other hand, detailed responses with interesting contents always catch my attention first and I read and re-read those responses. The one who has taken time to respond to my discussion in details carry more value to me, in comparison to the one, who remains brief. Some of the dear friends always write detailed answers to my posts and it gives me immense pleasure to read their responses and I anxiously wait for them to respond. It depends upon the nature of discussion too, how far one can stretch his/her response.
