RahXephon: Anyone else like this anime?

I'm currently watching RahXephon on the anime network.
I'm a sucker for mystery. I lap it up like honey, and while I've read a bit about it by surfing google...I was surprised to see it not mentioned here!
For those who haven't watched this anime, the basic premise is about this boy who lives in a world that he believes has been ravaged by nuclear war -- only to discover that his city is one of the cities kept in a bubble by "aliens" in an ongoing conflict with the rest of the world.
There's a deeper plot and overarching history to it all...and I'm not finished yet...but there it is.
It has mechs in it, though even this is a little bit different from other animes with mechs in them.
I've heard some people believe it's similiar to Neon Genesis Evangelion? But everything I've read about that series (I haven't had the chance to watch it yet)...suggests otherwise.
What're your thoughts on RahXephon?

I've watched and liked this anime for a while now. :) I keep hearing Eva comparison about it, but while it does have similarities with Eva, it's more because RahXephon incorporates a lot of common trends that mecha anime have. I do think that yellow dress was an Asuka-homage though. :p
It does sort of confuse me, though, because it has continuity aspect out of whack. The anime ending, movie and manga all have different endings as opposed to one complimenting each other, so the first time I saw the movie, just a few weeks after watching the anime end, I admit to being downright confused.
This anime is one of my tearjerker anime, haha. Especially with what happened to her girl best friend during the course of the series. It still is a good anime though, and while it doesn't rank on my favorites' list, it is entertaining enough for me to rec it to people.

I've also heard it's similar to Evangelion so I'll try it cause I love Eva.
