My kittens are such DORKS!

Both of my kittens, Whiskers and Kitkat, are the most adventurous and aggravating kitties I have ever had (and I wouldn't trade them for the world). I think they sit together and whisper about what kind of mischief they can get into each day. LOL! Anyway, they both have decided that the top of the front door is their new favorite place to perch and watch everything. Which of course is very cute to see except when the ceiling fan is going. One of these days I am going to have kitties spinning on my ceiling! It is absolutely hilarious to watch them get to the top of the door. We have one of those thick security screen doors, so the kittens use that as their ladder. Whiskers flies toward the door in a flat out run and literally runs up the screen to the top of the door. Kitkat on the other hand, walks up to the screen, tests it out each time and then slowly climbs up to the top and makes her way onto the front door. It is definitely not boring in my house with these two around! Do any of your pets have strange perches or hideouts?

My current kitty, Miss Miniver, is too sedate for that, but I know what you mean. I've known plenty who prefer strange perches. Of course, I think ALL cats prefer the highest viewpoint possible ...the better to see who's trying to sneak up on 'em! LOL! But there was one cat I had, Zu (short for Zuchini, because of her profile; her nose looked sort of squashed....ok, sorry...LOL!), surprised me when I cam into the living room & saw her sitting, balanced & Buddha serene, =atop the thin curtain rod!" Furthermore, there were NO tears in the drapes below her! To this day I don't know how she managed that. Or even why--she'd never done it before. I miss her. She was sooo sweet. A wonderful mama cat, too. HER big thing, really, was that she loved music! Minnie likes to lie on the very corner of my bed with bother front legs hanging on either side of the corner, & her head hanging down over the very point. Looks so funny. Zen cat....;o) Maggiepie

Whiskers likes to try to balance on the shower rod...which he isn't too graceful at yet. I also have a Zen cat...Miss Fluffy loves to lay on the arm of the couch with her feet on either side of it. It's too funny.

Actually, I can SEE that in my head! And you're right; it IS amusing. Elic & I used to have a cat, Mekon (he named himself--but that's another story...LOL!), who loved to lie on his back to sleep, & he'd have all 4 paws straight up in the air, the tips =just= folded over. It looked like something a CARTOON cat would do! Maybe he had a bad back. He was a...large...kitty. NOT WAY too fat, just, um...portly? /o), so it may be that this position helped him more evenly distribute his weight. I dunno. Just looked so cute & silly. Maggiepie

Thank you, Muscles. After all these years, her dear memory still affects ME the same way, a tear or two, & a lot of smiles. I'm cutting this a bit short--sorry 'bout that, but I'm just in the middle of telling a TROLL off in a different thread. He's decided I'm his special project to harass, calling ME a troll & a "hater." This LATEST because I defended MyBot for NOT being racist! Yeesh. I'm busy deleting his dumbo posts. Thanks for the comment! Maggie

I used to have a kitty that loved to jump up from the bathroom sink and up to the top of the bathroom door. Used to scare the shate out of me as I would often NOT look up and all of a sudden he would decide to jump down Yes, I often wonder if my two kitties when they are snuggled up next to each other on MY bed if they are conspiring of some plans. Since my new bed has a bookcase headboard I thought great, a great place to store those books I often read before going to sleep, right? Wrong! I have to leave the one space book free as the two take turns sleeping in their hide-y hole as I call it. My Pyewacket also makes it a habit of snoozing in the cabinet over the fridge, so have to keep that area clear just for him. My what we don't do for our "children"

ALL of my kitties have tried their best to get the doors open on my big headboard to see if they could get inside. But they are spring loaded so they can't quite do it....yet. But they love getting on the shelves there and watching what goes on. Yes, the things we do for our kids. LOL

I bet your kittens are a hoot to watch. I have two miniature pinschers. and a turtle. The turtle just sits in his tank and swims in circles every day. he is still a baby yet. Really small about the size of a half dollar. The miniature pinschers fight to see who will get to sit on the back of the leather recliner. It is funny because it one wants it real bad. The other will come up and knock them right off. I have taken to leaving a pillow behind it for fear they will hurt each other.

Wow, I would of loved to see that. I bet it was a real site to see. Right now he is tiny baby yet. All the kids that come over love to hold him being so small.

Eventually your turtle will be a big show off I'm sure. I had a friend that had one, and she actually took him out for walks. And he buffaloed his way right over people too. It was hilarious to watch. Your dogs sound as amusing as my cats. LOL!

When I had the house remodeled in 1999 I had an eyebrow window put in and had the builders put an extra wide sill on it for the cats. I have watched cats go flying across the kitchen, up the cat tree and into the window in no time flat! Often as not, they spin around at the end of the sill and come flying back down the way they went up!

Now that would make a hilarious video! My two don't fly right back down...they sit there as if to say "nah nah nah nah nah...I'm up here and you're not!" LOL

E.B., before she found her new home, was FAMOUS for doing this. Picture, if you will, a large, long haired, flame point cat, flying across the room, swarming up the cat tree and into the eyebrow. Reachs the end of the sill, spins in mid-slide and reverses her way out of the window, down the tree and out of the room. And, a minute later saunters quietly into the room like "who? me?"

You have a batch of nutty kitties!! lol I had that when Rascal and Music were little, they got into everything and anything!! Music climbed my curtains all the way to the top and walked along the curtain rod! I don't know how he did but he did it! Then we moved and he has a food area all his and the others own. Music would get on top of that, then jump on the door and up again to the top of my cabinets!! He'd lay there all day long and sleep and when he wanted down, he came down the same way! Thump! Thump! lol One day I went into the kitchen and found Music on top of my cabinets!! Now we did wonder how he got up there and one day we saw it, he jumped down onto the counter (which is a no no!) and down to the floor. He must've jumped and grabbed the door at the top and pulled himself up but I don't see any scratches on the cabinets so I'm not so sure how he did it. Now Rascal would grab my leg and play bite me! I'd be walking by and he'd be hiding and lunge out at me and attack me. I was his playmate! lol He's get into my cabinets too and we had to put magnets up to keep the doors closed but he's figured out how to get them open. so we're going to have to come up with something else. I call him "Momma's bad bad bad boy!!" lol He knows I love every bone in his little body!! Spoiled stinken rotten!! lol

Yep....it's definitely not boring in my house. I know what you mean about trying to keep the cupboard doors closed. We had to put one of those child safety latches on the doors under the sink not too long ago. Whiskers likes to get in there and move everything and play in the Sevin Dust for the garden. So we keep it latched to keep him (and everything in the cabinet) safe. LOL

my cat Jessycat loves to sit on peoples shoulders he'll curl around their necks and purr. The only problem is he digs his claws in. He once when he was a kitten fell off my shoulders and dug his claws in all the way down. Oh I was wearing a halter top at the time.

OUCH!! That had to be sooo painful! My Midnight will occasionally tolerate being a neck warmer. But he's so heavy that he doesn't make a very good one. LOL

Whiskers being amused by the toilet - My kitty loving to watch the water swirl as the toilet flushes
Awwww.....I bet that was a rude awakening falling into the tub. Poor thing! My cats are crazy too. I don't know how much water I've wasted flushing the toilet just to amuse the cats. Here's a pic of Whiskers watching the swirling water.

When he was really little and I mean he was a tiny tiny thing when I got him. Jess used to sleep on the edge of the tub even if someone was taking a bath. I can't count the number of times he fell in! Then there was the toilet when someone flushed there was jessy watching the water swirl round! I rest my case cats are crazy

Cats on ladder checking out a plant - My hubs brought this 17 foot ladder in to hang the plant from the ceiling. We went out of the room for a moment and 2 of our 5 cats were up the ladder and getting into mischief...as they always do.
Love pet discussions...thanks for posting this one. Hah...do our cats have favorite hideouts or strange perches? Do they get into mischief...you bet! Except we have 5 cats...so they are ALWAYS doing something to keep life interesting. I have posted a photo of two of our cats climbing a ladder that David was using to hang the large planter pot you see. We have to have plants out of reach or they will get into them for sure. We left the room for a minute and came back to discover our gray tabby Shal-lie and one of two ginger twin males...checking everything out. The ladder was a 17 foot one...but they perched up there with no problem. Raia

HI Katlady: What a funny story, I see you started this a month ago?? Yikes how did I miss it the first time around? LOL! I left a comment on your cute pic too of Kitkat up there on top of the door; My crazy cats can't do that to my door, as its always shut here, I live in not such a good neighborhood...bleh! but they do plenty of silly things someday I'll get around to listing the silly toys they have, not your normal toys either but strange ones; Happy Holidays to you and your furbabies!

Oh wow that's really funny. We only have one cat and she's absolutely nuts. She'd run really fast from our living room going to our room then climb immediately on our bed then jumps down then run away sliding on the floor. I think she's enjoying it when she slides on the floor. She loves it when she's in the back porch where she can stalk a squirrel.
