Worst Christmas Gift Ever  

a couple of years ago I was about to lose my apartment. I asked my family for money for christmas to help me pay the rent. Instead I got a barbecuer and a bunch of plates. That was definetly the worst because it was inconsiderate. I told them why I needed the money and it was like they were saying here's something for you to cook on when your on the streets.

Gift cards are always nice....my 13 year old granddaughter has requested one, which I turned her down about! I've already bought for her anyway. She even told me where to get it from. This is what I did for her birthday in Sept, but I decided NOT to for Christmas and I don't plan to for Christmas gifts, either, although I have in the past. I have been asking what people want and it has helped me tremendously.......a blender here, an Elvis gospel cd there, a toy box there, etc. The worst Christmas gift I received was the death from SIDS of my 3 month old grandson in 2002. Not really a gift, but the worst thing that ever happened.

i only have 2 ppl left to buy for, and i cant buy and have them shipped until after the first of December. but other than that, i am done! even have stocking stuffers already, just need to get wrapping paper lol!
i tend to keep little notes throughout the second half of the year about what ppl have said they want or expressed a strong interest in..that way when xmas comes knocking i have a pretty good idea if not actual item bookmarked.

id say the worst xmas gift i ever got would be when i was about 16years old. my mother and i had a lot of problems. i got in trouble a LOT, and id get things taken away thru the year. one year for my choir class we were going to see the Phantom of the Opera! i got a nice (opera worthy lol) outfit and everything. then got in trouble for something or other...and the outfit was taken away. and since there was a strict dress code where the opera was being performed..and i couldnt buy another outfit...i couldnt go. then later that same year one of my very best friends that i had known since 1st grade was having her sweet 16 party. i got her this big snowy white polar bear (she collected them and she had tons of LITTLE ones but no monster one lol!) i KNEW she was going to love it! and i got in trouble..it went bye bye.

then xmas came. and wouldnt you just know it, as gifts from "santa" i got the outfit that i couldnt wear anywhere else but an opera..or a some highclass shindig I would never be in the right circles to attend...AND the giant white polar bear..that I DIDNT EVEN WANT! it was for my friend..i didnt collect the damn things!

i was pissed, hurt and utterly without any xmas spirit for many years after. the whole xmas time was just reminded me of my mother being spiteful and (i thought at least) vindictive.

SO far I don't remember any worst christmas gift or am just so appreciative that every christmas gift I receive small or big still consider it nice. Maybe you can buy affordable things they needed most or of importance to them, or something they would be flatterred of.
