questions about lexapro

I take it from time to time, starting back when I was about 20. I have anxiety, and sometimes the panic attacks get too consuming. When it starts to affect my life functions, I go on Lexapro and the panic stops. Usually 10 milligrams is a good dose for me. The first time I ever went on Lexapro, the doctor was so impressed with my progress that he doubled the dosage, thinking that I would have twice the good effects! That was a huge mistake. 20 milligrams of Lexapro left me totally MANIC, and that's a bad state for me. I couldn't keep appointments, I didn't go to class, I felt invincible and had no real sense of danger. But you feel SO GOOD you don't want it to stop, so you never stop taking the pills! The only reason I ever stopped was I was too manic to make it to my dr. appointments, and I ran out, LOL. I didn't go back on Lexapro right away because for me, once the withdrawal was over, I didn't have the panic attacks anymore, and that's all I was taking it for anyway. And like I said, from time to time if the panic is bad I just go back on for a little while and then wean off.

i'm not taking lexapro but i am taking welbutrin. most of those meds take about 4-6 weeks to really take effect. you just have to wait it out. sorry :(
