With Winter right around the corner and some ppl already having snow, are you making sure to get out and visit your friends before the weather gets too bad?
I am friends with an older woman and we don’t get to see each other much so I try to go see her before the weather gets too bad b/c once it does I pretty much hole up in my home and don’t go out unless it’s absolutely necessary. She’s about the only one I do this with b/c not only don’t I want to go out, I don’t want her trying to go out to come visit me.
Who do you visit before the bad weather hits? Have you ever been snowed in and not able to get out even for emergencies. My ex b/f’s mom was snowed in for 4 days and his dad died and they had to stay in the house with the dead body for 2-3 days till ppl could get in to get them…creepy.

We do get snow and ice where I live and I hate it. We have not got any snow yet and I hope we dont , but I no it will come. If it gets really bad out My hubby drives me to work untill the roads get better.I don't like driving in the snow and ice to many car accidents.

My wife doesn't drive and works about 15 miles from home.
I pick her up each night.
If the raods are really bad she'll take off an hour early and take the bus.
I get her at the bus stop then which is 1 1/2 miles away.

Snow?? What's that? LOL. Here is Houston, we rarely get snow. The last time was, believe it or not, Christmas eve 2004. We rarely even get icy weather. The biggest problem when the weather does get cold is for the people trying to help the homeless.I don't go out much anyway and we rarely get shut in due to weather. When I was working a few years ago I did not go to work a couple of days when it was icy because I lived 60 miles from work. I decided not to attempt to drive.

I lived in Texas for a number of years and we rarely had snow and actually I could wear a bluejean jacket all winter with no problem. I have seen snow once or twice when I lived there.

Hi twoey, Even during the winter I still get out and do my regular things, not like in the summer of course, but I'm still able to get out. I like to visit my brother who is 82 and won't get out at all during the cold weather. My sister who is 85 still gets out sometimes, even during the winter. I don't like to see a lot of snow and storms as it was last winter but we haven't had any frost or snow as yet. I hope you get to visit your friend and that you winter is not as cold this year. Blessings.

I'm glad you can still get out. I really don't like going out in bad weather...I worry about falling too much (seems I do it all the time especially on ice). I'd much rather just hole up and wait for spring and watch the snow through the window.

I am glad we are in the State where snow is not that bad. We only had 2 inches snow twice last year as i can remember. We are not often staying inside during winter because the road is clear. The only thing is that, it is very cold. Chilly outside, we have to double our coats. Some people said, that it is not that cold when there is snow. We have no snow very often but we have a very cold/chilly to the bones weather.
So, if we have somebody to visit, we can still do during winter time, we just have to wear thick furry clothing. No problems with snow on the road.

It dont snow much here. And even if its really really freezing cold, still we have to goto office for work. So i don't have to think if i will go out before snowing. But its really difficult to go out in such freezing cold.

I hate winter, hmmm more I hate snow on the roads. You get people every year that dont seem to remember it is slick, icy and it makes it hard at times to stop so slow is the way to go.
I have to go out every Sat. as I play on a Pool league, I just leave early and go slow and easy. I dont go out other then that unless I have to thou.
Reading your discussion I can remember some of the times that we had been stuck inside. I live in the snowbelt of PA and we get all the lake effect snow. We got it bad yesterday and got about a foot and it is still falling. They are calling for it to continue for the rest of the week!
I felt so bad reading about your ex's family going thru that, I dont know what I would have done in that situation.

Too late!! It has already snowed here. Not a lot but just enough to make a mess. We have been snowed in in the past. We just play games, take naps, eat, stay warm and watch tv. What can you do? We just wait it out. After the snow storms pass comes the work of plowing the driveway and hoping the road commission has been able to plow the roads so we can get to town. We survive. It is not always easy but we do survive.

wow, that is creepy.
well, it never snows here, and we don't have weather that bad so at least weather here isn't really that big an issue. Unless it rains very hard.

I didn't really get the chance to go out and see people before it started snowing here, since we really didn't know that it was coming. Coming home from work tonight was awful though, because I was sliding all over the road. It is really icy here, and the salt trucks aren't out yet. I figured the beginning of december we would get snow, but it came early this year. I'm predicting that we are going to have a pretty bad winter so I won't be going to many places unless I have to. Then when I have to go to town I might visit a couple people while I'm in there so I don't get cabin fever staying in all the time.

I have a friend that lives just down the street. I have a scooter and I go to see her just about every 2 weeks, ut we both know that once the ice and snow hit I'm burrowing deep under the bankies! She understands and we will be calling each other.

Ooh that is creepy...I wouldn't know what to do, I wouldn't be able to sleep, even though I know its just family, that would still be hard to do. Well I've never had to do anything like that, thank goodness. I would of tried to find some way to get out. I haven't been snowed in like that, because here we don't ever get that much snow, but we do get alot of ice, and I've been iced in. I'm pretty much holed up in my house too when it gets like that, unless I get my husband to take me somewhere, because I can't drive in it, and he can. I will usually go visit my mom, and make sure she doesn't need anything, and take her to the store, and make sure she has enough to eat just in case it gets bad.

I haven't even been able to get out to visit anyone in the summer, I doubt that I will in the winter though. I am disabled and it is just so hard to get around.

I live in MINNESNOWTA so I love the snow and cold.
I always make it out even with a foot or more of snow falling to see friends etc.
I visit my A.A. club a lot as well throughout the winter months. I walk Buster a lot so I see the neighbors as well often stopping so Buster gets his cookies from 2 of the neighbors. So I have noone I really have to see before snow falls as I see them anyhow. When mom was a loive I seldom drove the 200 miles to see her with a lot of snow on the roads. Never really snowed in but the cities did close down for 3 days on Halloween Day 1991 due to 4 feet of snow in a 24 hour period. I live in the city so things are close and I always have food etc stocked in my house.

I don't really have anyone to visit other than a neighbor or two in our building. Getting to work will be a pain in the butt when and if it does snow. We are expecting some later in the week though and I am working Wed-Sunday too.

Hi twoey..fortunatley I have never been snowed in and being honest in the UK we don't actually have that much snow now even when we do its not for long. When it comes to going out I do during the winter anyways so it makes no difference if I go to meet my friends before or during winter...hugs littleowl

Hello ,
About the end of October we had a warm up for the fall weather . I remember on halloween it was near 70 and the whole week was 70 . Over the last couple of weeks the temps have been dropping . This weekend it was real good and we had snow flurries on friday and saturday . Sunday snow had fallen and stuck some (about 1 in ) today little more snow . Stuck some and boy ole boy was it nice to watch . Had to have the heat up higher because it is cold, brr , brr !!
There have been times i did have plans to see my parents and could not because of the snow , but mostly when there is an ice storm or something like that . I hate the ice
Take care
