Hello my dear fellow mylotters,
Here is the news that I happened to read tonight, November 17th, 2008.
At ten forty on the morning of November 16th, 2008, thousands of carps and a duck were having a fight against each other in a park pond in Changsha City, China. Thousands of carps were fighting against a duck which was trying to attack the carps. What a grand scene it is!
When some of the carps discovered this dangerous case, thousands of the carps united as one to fight against the attacking duck and made it escape from them in the end without having its aim come true.
Here is the attached photo and link about this news. As this news is in Chinese, I did the translation for you to understand in my discussion. I hope that you enjoy reading this discussion and the attached photo.
Thank you for responding, my dear fellow mylotters. Have a good day to you.
Love from williamjisir

Hi jisir, thanks for sharing the photo and also for taking the time and trouble as well to translate the interesting news here.
Here in my place, do have ponds in different recreation parks where we could find lots of carps swimming in the water. During the childhood of my son, my hubby and I liked to bring him to the nearby park to watch and to feed the carps in the pond. We always brought along with us a pack of crust. Some visitors and their kids even brought with them the whole loaf of bread. Carps liked eating crust and bread very much. Kids had great fun watching the fish chasing for the crust on the water. Very often kids liked to throw whatever thing they had to the carps when finished throwing the crust and bread. It was really interesting and fun that carps would chase anything that happened to fall into the water. The quick response of the fish school was so amazing and this aroused the great interest of the kids as well as my son to keep on throwing thing to them.
The numerous carps swimming around would race for the fallen crust at the same time. The duck in the photo just like the piece of crust floating on the surface of the water. From what I had noticed so far I know carps like chasing whatever thing that fallen onto the water and think that the stuff fallen is their food. They are rushing forward together to give us an impression that they unit together to fight against any creature on the water. I haven’t seen any duck attacking carps before and I won’t believe duck has interested much in those carps. Duck likes only smaller fish and other small aqueous creatures that it can swallow. I believe the carps there definitely would feel disappointed as the stray duck not their favorite food. The carps would leave the duck alone and be attracted immediately if there was a new piece of fallen crust nearby.
posting and have a nice day.

Hello lkbooi. Each time when I go to Hua-gang-guang-yu in the West Lake, a place where you watch carps, I always buy a loaf of bread to feed them. It looks so beautiful when all the carps rush to the crust to eat it. It is the same with other tourists. The fish there are very fast once something is thrown into the lake. Good day to you and thank you for your response, lkbooi.

Hi Wiliam
That's an amazing thing you have shared with us! 'Struggle for existence' and 'Survival of the fittest' could not not have been better shot! So much things have become obvious. How we stand when united and how fellowship, herdship, community help us live life peacefully.
An eye opener, simply outstanding!

This shows that co-operations makes us much stronger. Initially I didn't know what is the carps that you meant. After reading the news title, now I know that you meant 'li yu'. The duck is the fish arch enemy, but this incident showed that the duck couldn't defeat the carps if they resist together. This reminds me of the story of how a father showed to the fighting brothers the importance of staying united, by breaking a single stick but not for a bundle of stick. Thanks for such interesting sharing williamjisir. Have a nice day in Mylot!

Not a problem at all. And you are most welcome too! The first thing that came into my mind is the importance of being united. We have the same saying over here too, United we stand, Divided we fall. The united effort by all the carps to resist the duck attack have saved the life of one carp. It's really touching to see that the fish has helped each other. And it's sad that sometimes we human is not cooperative as the fish.

Good afternoon, youless. I am glad that I have finally reached ten thousand here. But I don't think that I will ever catch up with you as I can only make some responses when I have a rest without going to work. So please do not worry and wait for me to be next to you so that we can march on side by side. Smiling.

Hello my friend, so many of us are guilty of taking the wonders of nature for granted that to witness this event is to really appreciate what we have in this world! That is truly wonderful to see. That duck was taught a lesson good and proper! Thank you for sharing this with us, it made me smile, the duck will have to find his supper somewhere else now for sure and I think he has been put off fish for life after that experience!

Hello dear wolfie. I agree that this duck will have to rethink about his meal not to have fish any more. Thank you for responding, my dear friend. Enjoy yourself.

What you are seeing is the fish just trying to find some food to eat and not attacking the duck. When there is commotion in the water where food is normally thrown the fish will come to get their fill. The duck was making the noises that the fish thought was food being thrown into the water. I have seen similar instances of fish and ducks.

Hello oscarbartoni. I like your interesting response. It is true when we throw something to the fish to eat, they will all gather together around the food we throw into the water. Thank you so much for the interesting response. Good day to you, friend.

wow.. that is really something.. i wish i could have been there to see this for myself.
it kinda make feel sad, thinking about how we human.. (in my country, anyway) have become so selfish, self-centered and not concerned about others.. people are just 'scared' to get involved or help another person..

I have never heard of anything like it happening before and those are the most amazing pictures I have ever seen. I have never seen so many fish in all my life I would have loved to have been there! I am glad that the duck managed to escape although it will teach it a lesson I doubt that duck will bother them fishies again!

Hello dear gemini_rose. There is also another photo I would like to upload for you to have a look at when this duck was trying to get close to the carps. I hope that this duck has learned something not to attack the carps in the pond disturbing their normal life in the pond.
Please enjoy. Take care, friend.

Hi W.J.S...that was a very interesting piece of news.I did enjoy the pic and the news. And it is a typical example of the proverb "Unity is strength".....It showed how during adverse conditions the fish united together as one and succeeded in driving away the big predator, the duck,by their collective strength........

Hello Rose. Yeah, I am glad that the carps united together to drive away their predator. It is well said that unity is strength. I enjoy their collective strength that helps them live through a hard time when the duck invaded them.
