Is it fast for a cellphone to be online by Wifi?

These days I am considering to buy a new cellphone. A Wifi is a must and I like to use the Windows mobile operating system. I wonder whether it is fast for such a mobile phone to be online? Is it WM6.0/6.1 faster than WM5.0? I don't know whether loading a website will be fast. Besides, if I use Skype for my cellphone and that will be cool since I can call anywhere with low price.

With so many wireless hot spots being set up all over the place, it would be good if you can get a phone with WiFi capabilities.
And yes, comparing to using GPRS on the handset to surf the web, WiFi is really a much faster option to use when surfing the web on the handset.
Of course if you can get the latest version of the WiFi, it would be better than the older version.
So, which model of handset are you looking at?
One with a big screen would be better if you are thinking of using the handset to surf the web.

Well, the C730 is quite good. I tested a set and used it for a while. Very responsive and intuitive to use. Nd the big screen is a think to look forward to. Especially if you are intending to use it for surfing the web.
Loud speakers and a very loud ringtone as well. The qwerty keyboard is something that is an advantage. Especially if you like to use the functions on the phone to type out long wordy messages or notes.
I am using the Dopod S730. A lower end model. Which is also quite good as well.
When are you thinking of getting one?

I like qwerty keyboard much more as the pen doesn't input words so fast. In fact C730's screen size is a little special. It's wider. So some softwares and games may not support it so well. But I am not sure whether it's fast to load the page or use some online softwares when I am getting online. I need to check it so that I will consider to buy it.
I am not familiar with Dopod S730. Do you know currently I am using Dopod 535 for over 3 years? I think my model is older than yours
I am surprised that you also use Dopod as we live from different countries. I would like to share you my softwares and games because I like collecting them. I have a lot of them, haha But since my friends don't use complicated cellphones, so I am alone.

I like Dopod C730, but it seems its ROM is smaller. And its screen size is a little bit special. Besides it, I am satisfied with it. Actually I am not very interested in Samsung. However, I think I908 is good although it has something I don't like. But it seems it's almost the best compares to other models. Its feature is very good. It has a new feature called TV-out which I can't see it from other mobile phones. But I don't understand why its "pen" links with a string and that's so weird. It's very expensive and I prefer to buy a DSLR much more. So even if I like this model, I am not going to buy it because of its price. Perhaps after some time I will consider it when its price drops down.

Well, that would certainly be cool... i have no idea if wifi through cell phone is fast... i use my cellphone to access the internet when i do not have the laptop in the apartment... and it is quite slow... but better than nothing at all... just update us if you did indeed buy that cell phone...

Hello youless. It is a new gadget that you would like to have. It is very convenient to have an excellent cellphone which is good for surfing the Internet wherever you are. But I am sorry that I have no idea about the exact information for wifi. Enjoy yourself, youless.
