I need to wake up early in the morning and that is about 6am. However, I just can't get myself to go to bed before 12 midnight. i would only feel sleepy after 2am. due to that, I would always find it almost impossible to wake up at 6am. There were only a few times that I managed to get out of the bed but then they were too few to matter.

The only reason I want to wake up at that time is that I could go for a morning jog or walk and by doing it at 6am, I would have ample time to exercise and then get ready to go to work.

I have tried to do a few things. For example, I purposely go to bed at 9pm hoping that I would be sleeping all the way till 6am but i would always woke up around 2am to 4am and then I could never go back to sleep again.

I have tried to force my self to wake up by putting on multiple alarm clocks and that did not work either as i would only wake up to shut off the alarm and then I would be happily sleeping again only to wake later at 8am and the rush like mad to get ready for work.

So, my myLot friends! Do you have any idea or suggestions on how to get me to achieve this task of waking up early in the morning. Any suggestion would be appreciated! Cheers!

My only suggestion is don’t get up so early at all. Why do you need to jog or walk? Is it because jogging at the park or exercising looks cool, I mean are you doing it just because others are doing it too? Be honest to yourself. If so, then you will never be motivated enough to get up so early. However, if you have genuine reasons then that should be your motivating factor. I go to bed at 12 and wake up at 5am…my motivation is preparing my child from school in time.

Usually I use the mind control method. The mind is a powerful tool which can help us achieve many things if we trust in it. Here is how it is done.

When you lie down to sleep, close your eyes and relax. Tell yourself that you are going to sleep. Say to yourself that during the sleep period your whole body is recharged. Continue on by saying by 6 a.m, you will wake up full of zest and energy for the new day(or whatever positive things).

You may not succeed the first time you try. Keep on trying and most probably you will start seeing a change.

Hello Beruang,

Just like you, I am a late sleeper. The usual sleeping time for me is 2am and not earlier than that. We are like programmed to sleep at that time already. There could be various factors before but now with my age, I don't think I can change that already. And well, I have accepted the fact that indeed I can't sleep earlier than that so I just make use of those extra times. So, your not alone. happy

Now, back to your concern. If you cannot really wake up at that hour, maybe because it takes some time to break a habit, and in your case, your body clock/ or body rhythm. One way to do it is, you adjust slowly. Say for example, try to go to sleep 30 minutes earlier. Don't pressure yourself yet with the 6AM wake up time. Not yet. Just focus on sleeping at 11:30. It may take some time though.

When you already do that, then you can try another 30 mins. earlier. That would make your 11:00 PM sleeping time. When you fixed that, then you can focus on the 6:00 AM wake-up time already. This would signal your body that you are not deprived from sleeping. Not deprived at all.

I hope I am making sense here. If this doesn't help, then maybe you should try doing the walking/ jogging late in the afternoon. I have several officemates who jog/ walk in the late afternoons/ early evening routine. thumbup

Yes i have one i hope this could help solve your problem of waking up early in the morning....TRY PUTTING ALL YOU SAID ALARM CLOCKS FEW METERS AWAY FROM YOUR BED, ENOUGH TO HEAR THEM WHEN IT RING. BE SURE ONE OR TWO OF THOSE ALARM CLOCKS WORK OKAY?...Never ever put again those alarm clocks beside you, okay? Good luck friend..

I tend to have the same problem, my body is just not programed to fall asleep before 12pm, nor get up so early! Like a previous poster said, you could try, slowly, to alter you sleeping pattern to more 'coventional' time zones. Otherwise, try getting all those morning things done at night, so there isn't the mad rush in the morning? Why not try going for a job/walk earlier in the evening? It might help to tire you out and make it easier to fall alseep.

Well,I have to wake up everyday,expects weekends,at 6 am because school starts at 7 and I have no choice.The thing is I also want to exercise when I wake up but I really can't because I don't have time.So I do that sometime after school when I'm free.I think this tactic works best as because of the exercises I get pretty tired and go to bed at about 11pm and fall asleep pretty fast.So I can wake up at 6 am without any problems.

Maybe you can get your alarm clocks away from where you can touch,you have to get up to shut off their.Guess what you get up and leave your bed.

ho i to go to bed at more tan 12pm i try to get up at 7 am ..one thing is keep alarm, and say to bet before going to bed i will get up at 6am sharpe, say this for a weak and try...after some time you will get awaken after 6 sharpe..i have tried it works..the best alarm is our brain..if you program you will get it rite try..have a great day..

if you are going for a walk to loose your weight or for anyother reasons then that should be always there in your mind .this happened with me also..i used to sleep late in the night. i wanted to loose my weight..so i had decided to go for a walk in the nearby park...whenever i getup early in the morning i felt like sleeping again...but loosing weight was in my mind so i would get up suddenly thinking that....hahh it would seem funny but tht may work on u...

It would be interesting that you tell us your habits during the day. Why don't you fall asleep easily? Do you drink too much coffee or tea? Is your job a physical job or are you sitting all day? How many hours do you work a day?

And I must admit that I'm also a night bird!

Well, I have a day job from 8:30am to 5:30pm but normally I would leave the office after 6:00pm. By the time I got home, depending on the traffic, it would be around 7:00 to 8:00pm. I would then have dinner with my family and watch some TV with my family until 10:00pm to 11:00pm. Then I would be checking my emails and try to get myself to sleep. I do occasionally have a mug of tea or coffee while watching TV. How's that?

A mug of coffee or tea at night... Don't you think that's the problem? Why don't you replace coffee or tea with a cup of camomile tea or lime tea, which would help you to relax and to fall asleep?
