Doom Metal  

So, I'm not into doom metal--DON'T STOP READING!
okay. haha. But my fiance would probably cite it as his favorite genre. Now, because I don't really listen to it unless he has it on in the car when we're driving I don't know all that much about it. He definitely has My dying Bride and Reverend Bizarre, but the other two don't seem very familiar. He also listens to a lot of drone-y stuff like Boris and Sunn O))). Are you into either of them at all? Can you give me suggestions of albums you would recommend? Xmas is coming and all...

i would probably fall into that category..i've never heard it called doom metal..
death metal's probably about the same thing.

I am still fairly new to hardcore metal, so I am discovering band who other people might have known about for a long time, as well as other hardcore genres of metal. Right now I am in love with death metal, and find it a bit hard to like most black metal. Is doom metal similar to death metal? I love bands such as "Job for a Cowboy" so I am wondering if that particular band would lean more a little to doom metal instead of just death metal.

Its one of my favorite genres, when its done well. I think so much of the music is crap quality though, unfortunately. Conceptually doom metal is great, but so many artists ruin it with stupidity. Lately, I have been enjoying the sounds of Aglarond. They're a pretty sweet doom metal band from Mexico.

Doom metal is a very hard digest genre, bot all the people like doom metal, especially funeral doom, is more hard to digest. Althow i like black, and death metal very much, my favorite genre remains doom metal, i don`t know why, but i so like that slow sound, the lyrics are so emotional, i just like it a lot. I like My Dying Bride, Shape Of Despair, Depressed Mode, Rapture, and the list can continue until tomorrow.

I enjoy many bands from this genre. For one, I like the classics such as Trouble, Black Sabbath and Candlemass. I also listen to Cathedral and Electric Wizard. Finally, bands of the style of Anathema, My Dying Bride and Katatonia also tickle my fancy. There is a lot of variety in this genre.
