Is anyone a member of secondlife? Are you excited with it?

I have heard a lot about secondlife but I have not actually grabbed the bull by the horns and joined. I heard that you can run online businesses and things like that. I cannot join at the moment as I found out that I would have to buy a video card in order to cope with the graphics, my monitor won't handle it at present. So, are you a member of secondlife? What do you think? Do you actually benefit from living in a virtual world? Andrew

I considered the idea, but decided against it for several reasons:-
1 It seemed to be quite expensive; there were various levels of membership, size of plot to built your virtual house, etc.
2 It seems to require a lot of computer power, a really fast connection for it to be worthwhile. Not sure if I would require a video card?
3 Already spend too much time on the internet, not enough pursuing my healing dream!!!
I think that for some people it could be good fun. But with the way civilisation is going, what with the credit crunch, 'peak oil' etc, it is pretty frivolous in the scheme of things! So apart from an entertainment benefit, there is really no other benefit from it.
Have a good one, Andrew. :~)

Hi, I thought that you could join as a free member, is this correct? Anyway, I think that I probably will check it out. I need to pick up a video card first. Good luck on achieving your dream of becoming a healer. Thanks for your thoughts. Andrew

I would guess that you probably could join as a free member, but probably wouldn't be able to do very much on the site. It does sound really interesting. For me though, I need to get more into the real world, rather than a virtual world! :~)
