What's so special about the "Twilight" movie/novel series?

Sorry, but I just can't seem to grasp it, I've read the whole plot and story on wikipedia and had it explained to me by others and to be quite honest, it sounds like a typical teen vampire flick. Vampires are done and over with, I don't know why Hollywood continues with it, oh I know! cuz they're running out of good ideas, bingo!
There were good vampire movies released, that's when vampires were still hot -- "Fright Night", "The Lost Boys", not anymore folks... The poster of "Twilight" looks like Dawson's Creek with vampires.

I really like the books.
yes they're cliched. yes they're cheesy. yes, they're not THAT well written.
but they're very sweet books. quite charming.
I don't think vampires are over. I've always loved vampire books and films, even the bad, cheesy, low budget ones.
I'm very much looking forward to the film. yes it will be cheesy. the books are cheesy.
but it's a cute story.
