Phishing Emails

I'm sure we've all received phishing emails in the past. As a matter of fact, I received one "from" PayPal earlier today. As I normally do, I promptly forwarded it to PayPal's security center via spoof@paypal.com. The main reasons I do it is because I want to let Paypal (or whatever site it may be) know about the phishing email so they can work on disabling the websites and links from the phishing email.
Who else here always makes it a point to report phishing emails when you get one?

I recieved one myself a few weeks ago it looked so real that i almost fell for the scam...when i looked for the lock at the bottom of the page it wasn't there thats when i became aware that it was a phishing email so i reported it to paypal and they got right back to me and confirm that it was a phishing email. The other day i went to paypal and they don't display that lock at the bottom of the page no more for some reason you have to look in the browser address window to determine if it a secure website https:// if there's no ess in the http:// it's a scam email...so, i'm afraid that a lot of people will get taken this hoilday season with this change...see the fake paypal sites have the secure lock display where you type your paypal address and password plus paypal will refer to you by your name when they contact you. I always report scam emails hotmail is one of the best email providers when you report phishing emails they do something about it,not like yahoo careless about scam email i got so much scam emails from using yahoo i don't even use yahoo anymore...

Well, I'm glad I didn't fall for it. It's people like that (who might unknowingly fall for these kinds of emails) are probably the biggest reason I like to report these phishing emails. I always try to remember there might be someone out there who, for example, might be new to the internet and are unfamiliar with that or something. So I want to at least try my best to help keep those people safe from phishing. Some of these emails are pretty convincing too, like the one you mentioned. Good thing you noticed that one "little" difference.

Yeah, ones from (supposedly) PayPal and eBay are probably the most common ones that I get.

I have received a number of these phishing emails. Since I use my pay pal account for everything I guess it makes me more vulnerable to them. I just forward everything that comes in pay pal's name to their spoof site. The only thing I accept as legitimate is the emails that tell me when a deposit has been made. That is the only time I get legitimate emails from them.
