do you buy christmas ornaments for your children?   

we buy Christmas ornaments, lights, chocolates, cards every year :D
this year i got my little brother a PSP ... don't tell him .. he's been saving for it for 2 months and i thought i would surprise him ^^

I don't have any young children and I haven't even put up a tree in years. We just don't have the money for one.

We do tend to take the children to choose some ornaments each year but only really to replace the old or broken ones. Its nice for them to choose

I usually buy me kids an ornament each year. I try to find the character ones of something they are in to that year, sort of as a reminder to them.. My daughter has My Little Pony ones and my son has quite a few super hero ones. They look forward to picking them out and love having something that is their own to put on the tree.

This is an interesting idea but I doubt if most kids are interested in saving a Christmas ornament to use 5 to 10 years down the road. I guess if the parents take the ornaments and take responsibility for saving them and keeping them together, then it might work. I've not heard of your idea about giving Christmas ornaments for shower gifts, do you mean wedding showers or baby showers? Just wondering. Take Care.

I don't buy ornaments for my kids every year. If there is a certain one that my son asks for I will get it for him, but it is not something that I just do. He normally wants the character ones. I have gotten him one or two, but he usually does not ask for them.

Yes I do. My daughter is 5. She has her own box to put her ornament in. And the idea is that she will have enough ornaments to have her own tree when she(gulp) moves. We try and find at least one related to something she has done that year. Now other members of our family have started getting them for her too. My son will be born Dec 10. We will do the same for him! I think it is a great family tradition.
