Those less fortunate

This morning I was able to get back into something that never failed to give me joy. I volunteered at one of our High Schools to feed the poor/lonely people of the community. We served hundreds of Thanksgiving meals to hundreds of people who, for some reason or another, needed our help. And then I drove and delivered meals to those who couldn't leave their homes. Little old ladies, sick old men, and families with children... I did this for several years, before my son was born, for Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas. I fell out of it because of the baby and various family obligations. Today, I was so happy to help make a difference in these people's lives. In a few more years, when he's old enough, I fully plan of taking him with me. I just wanted to share this with you all. I hope that you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving, and if you can, try to find a way to make a difference to those who are less fortunate. Blessed be.

Thank you for sharing with us. But I must say that there are those less fortunate (in this case I'm referring to physically handicapped) who aren't happy with just receiving. I have seen many of them trying many ways to be less dependent on others. But true, sometimes they still need help from us. I'm encouraged today when I saw such an old lady today. True she is not able to see and I believe she lives in a special home, but almost every evening I see her selling her stuff. And to everyone who walks past her, she says those words that are full of gratitude. I hope everyone who walks past her is encouraged by her too. Happy Thanksgiving!

hello buddy, that was so nice of you for the works that you do. indeed there are people who are less fortunate than us. and if we consider ourselves able then we all must volunteer to do some activities for them. we may be busy , we may not have time. but we must remember that if we help people when they need us , then certainly there would be someone for us to help when we would need them. we always live our lives fro ourselves. but we can know the pleasure when we just try to live some time for others. have a good day and happy postings here at my lot.
