well... going through a bad patch in life right now.. and my appitite has gone down the drain. i have not been eating well at all... and i think i have begun to lose some weight. i think i am just so depressed now that i cannot bear the thought of eating at the moment. everytime i order some food i will order a normal portion, thinking that this could be the time when i have finally have my appitite back. i'm always proven wrong. but when i talked to my cousin about it today, she told me she knew of this person who eats more when she is sad or depressed. does it really happen? which do you think you fit into? eating more when you are depressed or not eating as much when you are depressed?

Yup, our moods do affect our appetites. When I am sad, worried or stressed, I just don't have an appetite. I don't want to eat at all; neither do I feel hungry. But I have a friend, who is the opposite of me - he can't stop eating when he's unhappy, worried or depressed. In fact, he puts on weight whenever he is stressed. I suppose he finds comfort in food.

there are different kinds of people who would react differently to their moods affecting their appetite.... im a normal person so like other normal people when i get upset or depressed thats when my hunger levels go down.... but not always.... they do go down but sometimes they can go upto me not having food for the whole day which actually rarely happens or sometimes the hunger level goes down just for a meal or so.... but i know many people who eat more when they are frustrated, angry or simply depressed which i find a bit odd as i never have the appetite to eat anything when im down !!

Yes, of course. When i'm happy, i eat a lot, when i'm blue, i don't have the appetite, although i can feel the pain in my stomach. Last two days, i ate a little, and the good thing is that i'm gonna lose weight. I'd rather i was fatter if i'd lose weight at the cost of mood.

oh i do believe that our moods affect our appetite... when i was still studying and had my boyfriend i can't eat when we had an argument. and when i am so sad, i just cant eat, i did not have an appetite, then. that's a reason why i have said that i mood swings affects the appetite.

it is damn clear from scientific studies that mood does have an impact on appetite.it depends upon the psychology of the person.like in ur case you lost your appetite....but many people tend to eat more when they are in depression,or if they are worried about their exams.etc......as far as i am concerned my mood affects my appetite and i tend to lose the latter...........

I think that when you are depressed, you should eat more so that you can bring back the energy that you are losing. You should not think well of your situation. You should try eating with your friens. Get out and talk to them while having your meal so that your spirit will come back. Don't be overcomed by your problem. If you will not eat, you may lose weight. You may not look as good as you are. So when you are depressed, you better eat well to regain energy. Before and after eating, you should also pray.

When I feel sad or down I find it very difficult to eat. I lose my appetite at that sort of time in my life. I tend to snack rather than have a proper meal if I feel really stressed. If I make a meal I have a bit then end up throwing the rest of it away. I have to feel happy in order to eat well. I hope that life improves for you and soon you will get your appetite back. Good luck.

Well, I fall into the eating more when I am depress category. And well, I have been putting on more weight that I would have like. Cos even when I am in a good mood, I also eat to celebrate that good mood! Depress? Well, sharing the reason why you are depress usually helps to alleviate it. Otherwise, try like I do. Go get a tub of your favorite ben and Jerry's. I usually go for the double chocolate fudge. Finish the whole tub if need be. Once you have that ice cream in your mouth, your mood instantly changes for the better. Even the worst of days seems to melt away when each mouthful of ice cream.

Hello, raclie. My mood certainly does affect my appetite. When people are alone/bored, they will usually eat more. This is a common behavior. If you are feeling bored, you will just start eating a lot. When you are busy with something, you will not eat as much as you would if you were bored. I think you should start looking for help, if you already haven't. Being depressed may be causing your lack of appetite, and not eating will only cause you harm. Get your mind happy! Listen to happy songs, come on! Smile. Read jokes. Fart in the middle of a crowded place and blame somebody else. Do something different! Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Well, when I am depressed I tend not to eat much. I lose appetite when I am sad or when I am worried about something. But when everything is well, I my appetite is also well.

Ya friend if we think more and if we didn't eat well then defnately our appitite will go. But if we feel happy then it won't go. It's all depending on us. While in depress it's really impossible to eat anything. Even a glass of water is also difficult to take.

Divorce Cake - Make one of these when you're getting a divorce and it may bring your appetite back! LOL!!!
Hi raclie, When I get really depressed, I just stop eating and usually don't even notice it. this doesn't happen that often, usually around divorce time. People usually lose a lot of weight when they are getting a divorce...my friends and I call it "the divorce diet, guaranteed to lose 15 pounds instantly!" It's expensive though, so I wouldn't recommend it too often. Happy MyLotting!

yes it does. At time when I am happy and cool, i like to eat good food. Otherwise in tensed situation, there is no appetite at all.I think it acts for all. the brain controls the whole body.
