Would you support a 'legal heroin' program to reduce addicts?

I am not sure about this one. There is this voting thing on this web side and 10678 said yes and 19609 said no. I am sort of in beetwen right now. I know how adictive and dangerous drug adiction is but diabetics buy their drugs and needles, cancer patients do the same and its not their fault. Drug users get free needls (this is a point raised so many times in Australia). Plus drug adicts have free clinics and programs and free drugs to help them quit. What do you think?

If I understand what you are saying, that the legal program will reduce addicts (I take that to mean help current addicts with their addiction), then I must say I am for it. I do not pretend to understand all the dynamics of chemical addiction, but I do know a lot of addicts and I can see the pain that they go through and the struggle they have with trying to get clean, stay clean, change their lifestyles, etc. I feel that a person who will do anything knowing how dangerous it is and that they can even die from it, yet they feel powerless to overcome it needs some kind of help to make their life better again.
