Titans and the Playoffs

The Titans lost a game to the Jets two weeks ago. I would have thought they had their playoff spot sewed up, having won eleven games this season and lost only one, but now I find out that isn't the case. What is required for them to have a guaranteed slot in the playoffs? They only have four games left. How many will they have to win for a guaranteed playoff slot?

I am not that much into sports. I suppose they would have to win three out of four. But I could be wrong. Lets see they won eleven, lost one, that means they played twelve games, so it could be that they might win two games and still qualify, but it also might depend on how many teams left they place. So they might have to win all four games if they are up against a number of teams, like one game with one team, one game with another team, one game with still another, and so on. If it were two games with one team, the odds might be better.

Funny, the Titans are the only football team I follow and I have been watching them for years, but I still have a somewhat limited understanding of the game.

My husband keeps smiling, because I get so confused when he is watching a game. I still cannot understand why they jump on the guy who is running with the ball and why he is running when he could kick it, and why a two minute play off stretches to five. They have no sense of time. Must use a different clock. Oh and thanks for the best response.
