Jumanji vs. Zathura- are theu in the same universe?

Is "Zathura: A Space Adventure" really supposed to a be related to Jumanji. Wikipedia said it's a prequel? I don't see any similarities. Do you?

hi cripfemme...i've seen them both and like them both. they were both wild and imaginative that's a similarity i saw.
