Catchy Title? |
|
Many times I will get a notification that a new discussion has been started or I am searching for something to post, and I will find a catchy title. Seems by the title it is something I might be interested in.
But after reading the post, there is much to be desired. I almost feel like the poster teased me. The poster never asks a question, never states his opinion and sometimes it has nothing to do with the title. It kind of feels like a false start! What a waste of my time!
How often does this happen to you? When this happens will you add something to the discussion or just continue your search?

I don't like discussions that are about matters people are better off keeping to themselves, such as their bodily functions, illegal things, religious or political controversy, or harsh criticism directed at specific individuals. Just about anything else is fine, except that there are a few topics about which I know absolutely nothing. TV shows would be an example of that.

As for the titles, they did exactly what they were intended to do. Get you to read the post. If you are just interested in posts that ask questions maybe you should do some surches and not just look at the titles. This is a sharing site and that can be done in numerous ways. Just because they don't all agree with your thinking does not make them wrong. Enjoy your evening.

relundad (1581) | 1 year ago | Well I didn't make the "do's and Dont's" of mylot. According to them we should not post jokes, recipes, one liners for discussions or responses, poll type questions or just posting information unless you are referencing something....Basically the operative word is Discussion...if you know the definition of that then there you go. Dialogue has to be created, I don't know how you do that without stating your opinion or asking a question that is in relation to it.
And by the way I never said it was wrong. I just voiced my opinion and asked a question.

But I'm very frustrated when I'll see a catchy title--I can't think of one just now--and it turns out they don't reveal at all what their own opinion is, it's just a one line discussion with no meat in it.

relundad (1581) | 1 year ago | Hey dragon, those are the exact one's that I am talking about. I had to turn most of my notifies off as sometimes in a couple of hours I would have 60 or 70 discussions. With a huge portion of them being some guy asking oneliners that require one word answers. Turns out that one of the discussion from the same guy would be that he is trying to post 42 discussions for payout! Ugh!

dragon54u (9646) | 1 year ago | LOL! Hey, I'm guilty of that once, too. I did post one that said I wasn't going to make payout and the responses helped me make it but it was a valid discussion and I learned how people cope with that situation. It was interesting to me! But yes, I had a guy like that with only one liners. I turned his notifications off. I'll check it back on soon to see how his conversational style has progressed!
