Reading Obama's book  

Yes! Never judge a book by it's cover. It is better to go and read the real story as the news we read twists everything around and we hear so many different versions of it.

I always think that a truthful book will help you make your own mind up. I read my Bible. I do not go to church but I read it the way I see it so I know what I read makes more sense (if you understand me) LOL/ Well happy Obama reading.

Yes, I've done this sort of thing, dawn. Of course, my mind is a blank and I can't recall any one I've read. Let's see. Hitler's, Mein Kampf, Jimmy Carter (many of his writings), Malcolm X, King of course, C.S Lewis, Aerosmith, gee, anyone who catches my attention. I wish I could be more specific.

Now there you go being logical, Dawn! Don't you know logic is against the rules? After I read enough cherry-picked excerpts that didn't make any sense at all in light of what he was saying, hunted them down to read the couple of paragraphs around them for context and realized that there was a quite a mind behind them, I found Obama's books and read them. I've always found that it makes more sense to read a book than to get your information about it from someone else's summary - though I do read reviews and critiques of books to get a different viewpoint after I read the book itself.

I've never read his books and don't have any plans to. I don't much care for him and really am not interested in what he has to say in his books. That being said, it is a good thing to go to the source rather than just believe what is wrote about ppl. When the campaign was still going on, I didn't put alot of stock into the news reports...instead I went to Youtube and found the videos of their rallies, speeches, debates and everything. I figure it like this...ppl can right anything in a news article or a even their own book but when I see the person speaking and the words are coming out of their own mouth...it's kind of hard for them to deny saying it.

As for 0bama's books, some of the things said in the books have already been retracted...I've heard in one he claims Rev. Wright was a close family friend that was like a mentor to him and his ideals are what helped shaped 0bama's life...yet when the whole God d*mn America thing came out...0bama went on record as saying that he didn't know Wright felt that way and that he was simply the preacher at his church. You can't have it both ways.

Anyways...I do commend you for not just blindly following the gossip mills.

I have some of MLKs speaches and writings. What I notice most is that he would be screaming at the people if he were alive today. He would have been calling anyone who voted for Jackson or Obama just because of their skin color to repentance. I can't say which one he would have supported (although there is a lot of evidence that he never thought much of Jesse Jackson), but one thing is for sure, he wouldn't have cared what color their skin is when he entered the voting booth.

Hi dawnald! I bought 'The Audacity of Hope' as one of my birthday gifts to myself 2 months ago. Unfortunately, I'm still on Chapter 2 due to my busy schedule. Nothing beats than getting it directly from the horse's mouth since right now the news or internet could distort anything or take them out of context.

I have read OBama's book The Audacity of Hope, I really like the book, I want to go out and get my own copy, it was a really good book, I use the copy of the book the Library had, but after I read it, said I want to get my own person copy, I was so interested in the bbok I didn't want to put it down, Obama'sbook really held my attention, it something doesn't hold my attention, I will put it down and go and do something else.
