voice recognition software and speech impairments  

Have you ever tried vista's voice recognition program? You may have to correct some of it, but maybe it would be easier. I will see what I can find. I hate to ask, but how severe is it? I will check some of my son's magazines, as he is totally non-verbal and we get some adaptive magazines.

I have something wrong with the nerves in my hands so I was given Dragonspeak software by the local vocational rehab in my area. I do not have a speech impairment, but I do have a thick NY accent which the software had trouble understanding. You have to "teach" the software to recognize particular words as you say them, but it remembers what it is taught so after a while of using it it gets much easier. There is only one problem, if there is background noise, the software will pick up on it and type it! My dog started barking while i was using it one day and it typed:

"are are are are are are are are"
