One Hundred Dollars A Plate!  

Wow. That's some dinner service. We have a friend who has "Christmas Corckery" but whilst we have some individual peces, we have no set worth that much. I do have a Georgian silver tea pot. I don't think that we have ever had anything from it though. As a matter of interest. Isn't it the middle of the night where you are? Are you OK?

Hi that sounds a good thing to have although you did not mention how much it cost you 30 years ago in the 70's .. i don't know what inflation would have been covering 30 years but i guess the $100 today was about $25-30 back then ... for me my only treasured item are personal as i was never one to keep things for special i bought and used everything :) still I am pleased for you :)

Yes, we have paintings of Sylvester, Tweety bird, and many other characters that we bought at art auction. I also have signed DVD cover & poster of Cyndi Lauper. I have picture & signature of her as well. We have official RCA award from The New Radicals. The posters were promotional when she released her "Live at last" DVD, I'm not sure how much they're worth I'm sure at least 20 USD or more. The RCA award we bought it for 92 USD with shipping from eBay, these awards usually go from 100--500 USD depending on demand. I haven't got it appraised. We did get the art work appraised but that was a few years ago. I don't remember how much they were told to be worth because I will have to check with my records.

By the way, I have a friend from Bavaria she's my pen pal. It's very nice to talk with her.

Eventually I'd love to have a nice hutch with a nice set of china just for holidays but we haven't gotten that far yet. We are just getting things straightened out money wise and we still have so many things we want to replace from when we had foster kids...so many things got wrecked.

I do have some very old dishes that have blue and white handpainted scenes on them but they have been packed since before we got into foster kids which was like 5-6 years ago. We've been out of the foster kids for like 3 years but their still packed b/c we were moving alot. Maybe when I get my hutch they can come out of storage.

My grandmother has a Lazy Suzy she used to use when my brother's and I were little, for holidays and other special occassions. She doesn't use it anymore, because it has gone up so much in value.

Not me we have these cheap plain dishes we use for all occasions. And when we have company we use paper plates if we can get away with it. I hate having lots of dishes to wash lol. Im way to cheap to pay alot for dishes plus with my boys they would break my good dishes for sure. As it is im running low on my cheap dishes as they have been breaking them alot.

Currently, all that I have in this regard is a metal plate that I bought and took to college with me when I left home when I was 18 years old. For some reason, I still have it and will eat on it from time to time. Perhaps I'll eat off of it today.

I knew as soon as I read your title what this discussion was going to be about!
I suppose your upcoming week-end holiday dinner made you think of this one!

Anyhow, I do not have much left in the way of my crystal as it all smashed when the shelf of my china cabinet fell loose! That was such a sad day for me as you know and it actually happened twice!! I do still have my pretty clear set of plates and bowls that my girl friend bought me when I was getting married.... Thankfully I keep them on the bottom shelf of my cabinet and so they have been left unharmed in both accidents with my shelving! I use these only for company and they are simple and pretty enough I guess...fine China would most likely get broken here anyways!

Your set is lovely and I look forward to seeing them again very soon...Perhaps we can eat some chicken off of them in the very near future!

I also see that there are a couple of people here who are concerned about you and the hours you keep I tried to explain your plight to them...I hope you don't mind!

I have 3 plates that my grandmother get in 1937..... My grandmother died in 1948, so I didn't know her. It is made from unique colored glass with hand made design.
I don't use it. I keep it as a great memory of my grandmother.

Unfortunately I really don't have any dinnerware that's special and only used for special occasions. There used to be a nice dinnerware set of my great-grandmother's---and the way you describe your dinnerware plates almost sound like them except they had gold rims...one by one the plates broke over the years....mainly my mother broke them..bit of a klutz there..LOL. They too were bavarian china... The only thing I have left now are the large platter for serving a turkey, and gravy boat...the rest...gone
