i am this year by making some sun catchers out of glass and soldering them. one year, we did our tree in red and bought red glass balls and made chunky wood hearts of wood which painted red and strung with red and white checked ribbon. it looked quite nice that year.

Great idea, Cher! Chunky wooden hearts. I think I may have some here that I can use for ornaments! Thanks for the idea!

That sounds like a beautiful tree, Do you have pictures of it? I'd love to see them! My husband's favorite color is red, and I like the color myself. I love purple more though, such a beautiful color!

No we don't make our own tree ornaments. I think i did when I was younger, but don't anymore. My husband's family has bought tree ornaments every year as a tradition for years. I like that tradition and may do that, but I'm also thinking of buying ornaments or orament kits or making them from scratch as well. So many ideas really, not sure where to start... though we'll be pilfering through my grandmother's ornaments that she never uses anymore if she'll let us.
