I just watched this:
Animated Aurora Borealis, from Orbit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeAmKKrIVlc
What did you think about the video? Does an Aurora Borealis seem like something you would like to see for yourself?
I have never seen an Aurora Borealis and wonder what it really looks like fromt he Earthside...
Have any of you mylotters seen an Aurora Borealis?
In a lot of the pictures of it, is seems to have an unreal feel to it... Is the world rather still and quiet or is there a noise with it? Does it really waver as is being shown in this video? Please describe your impressions of the Aurora Borealis for those of us who will perhaps not have the chance to see it as you have.
What were your thoughts and feelings when you saw this for the first time?
Or the last time you saw it?
Thanks for your efforts on this.

I would be a fun thing to see it, yes...
Yet my guess is that you are able to find amazing and beautiful things to see in your neighborhood that the people who have these light effects where they are cannot see.

Very eerie looking. I've always been fascinted by the aurora borealis, and it is a dream for me to be able to see it with my own eyes. Thanks for pointing to another view of it.
I have seen images taken from the ground that look even more spectacular though.
Happy mylotting!

Thanks for posting...
I can bet that the images from the Earth are more spectacular but I thought it was cool that such a feature on Earth could be seen from so far above it.... at the Space Station... It was, too me, amazing.

I saw one when I was in Alaska several years ago. It was truly a beautiful site to behold. It was actually a little spooky looking at first, until someone told me what it was. It started out as a eerie looking green light glowing in the darkened sky. For a moment, I thought I was seeing some type of UFO or something LOL

Ah eerie was the word I was looking for...
So that look is not lost when you look at it from the ground level... I wondered.
Thanks for sharing your experience of it...
I can understand why you thought at first that it was a
type of UFO or something as the color is unusual.

fascinated I mean.
