Licking and tasting food

I was helping a friend make food. While she was making the food, she kept tasting the food and licking her fingers. I tried to be polte, but I thought it was gross. I was thinking to myself "I will never eat any thing she makes..." It was funny because she kept telling me how clean she is. Does it bother you when people lick and taste food they're making for you?

It would bother me, but I don't actually know anyone who does that.

Yuck....It is really gross!!! I think you should tell her frankly that you don't like this behaviour, of course in good manner. Does she wash her hand after licking her fingers? It's really unhygiene if she did not wash her hand and kept using them to make the food. You know, some people don't know what they are doing because it is very normal for them, but i don't like (since she makes the food for you), i will tell her honestly what i feel about this, otherwise i don't feel comfortable eating the food.

That's a good idea. She didn't was her hands. I was just too freaked out to say anything. I was afraid I would be mean.

eeww! if you have to taste something (and if you're cooking it you should) use a CLEAN SPOON EACH TIME! when i lived in California there was a little diner that a group of us used to hang out at on the weekends. the prices were cheap and the food was decent..they let us sit around in the back booths and play D&D lol! after having hung out there for a few months..we met the chef, he came walking by on a break or something. he was a big man..a big hairy man. now ive seen cooking shows where the chef uses a spoon he keeps on him each time he tastes something..he wipes it off on his apron and tucks it back into the strings or whatever. now ive never thought about it..but "wiping it on the dirty apron" isnt really doing any good to actually "clean" it. anyways...this Big HAIRY chef..kept a spoon tucked on him, in the tied strings of his apron around his waist. well as he walked past us, we saw his spoon..tuck neatly into the strings of his apron as the strings had edged up his waist and bunched up his shirt so the spoon was against his bare...HAIRY, back. EEWW!!! it was funny as hell, but REALLY gross! we found a new place to go when we wanted to eat something..but if we were just going to sit and play D&D and drink soda and coffee..we still hung around the place.

Gross. I think I would have ran out. I get really sick when there is hair in my food.

yes, it bothers me very much - hen I cook and want to taste something, I use a teaspoon or a fork, only once. Or take a little bit in a plate, using a spoon. And taste using another spoon, not the same I use mixing the food. If I see someone else cooking like this, I find an excuse not to eat.

I know, I kept thinking to myself "I'm glad this food is not for me."

Yes It is not the way to carry on.If I taste I use a teaspoon then put it in the washing up,I never lick my fingers but then I was a oook and learnt all about germs and food poisining, and passing on mouth ulcers ect.Maybe she should have a course in food hygiene I certainly would not eat at her house.
